My Question or Issue

Hi there,

I recently updated the app (3 days ago) and it was working fine this morning - but this afternoon I tried opening the app and it crashed straight away!


I've tried everything - uninstalling, reinstalling, clearing the cache, clearing the data, turning my phone off and on again - but the closest I've come to anything is throwing my phone against a wall!!


Please help! 😞

The initial issue reported in this thread should be fixed now so we'll be closing this Ongoing Issue as Fixed.


However, if you're having troubles, we'd suggest starting a new thread in the relevant Help board, making sure to include the affected device's details and all the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. We'll be happy to lend a hand and look into this further.

  • The make and model of your device Samsung S9
  • OS (operating system) version Android v10, 4.9.118
  • Exact app version (you can find this on your device's Settings > Apps > Spotify)
  • (for Samsung devices) Are you prompted to link Spotify to a Samsung account? nope
  • Do you have an SD card on your device? nope
  • What troubleshooting steps you've tried, Clean install
  • Is happening on WiFi or mobile data, or both? both

Same problem with me. It started after updating Android.

Have the same issue. Started to happen after i updated to Android 10 with One UI 2 on a Samsung s9.


I starts, then rapidly exits. 


Tried everything including unistall/reinstalling the app.

I just installed the latest spotify update but it still crashes.

You need to fix this or I will cancel my subscription.


In fairness I've been talking to Spotify tech support on twitter and they are coming back with lots of suggestions but nothing helps. I've put hours into this now and I'm reaching the end of my patience with it. I need to be up and running by the weekend or its Tidal for me, I can't keep paying premium subscription and not have access to the service

I just installed another update and the problem persists. I'm going to start the one month trial of Tidal and probably stay with them if its not fixed after a month.
