[Android] "Downloading" playlist is stuck on 0%

Status: Fixed
0 Likes

Thread: 116950

Status: Unresolved

Description:

This thread is for this particular issue:

In a playlist, in Spotify on Android, you press the green “Download playlist” button and it stays stuck on “Downloading 0%”

Additional information:

  1. If your device doesn’t show up under Devices in the desktop client, that is a different issue. Please make sure you try resolving the issue using our connection troubleshooting tips
  2. If your playlist did sync before, but then disappeared, please go here
  3. Have a look at the updated Troubleshooting Spotify on Android topic
  4. When replying here, make sure you provide ALL the details we ask for. A simple “I have this problem too” doesn’t give us any info we can use to try and find a common cause
  5. When replying here, please also state how much space you have left both on your device AND on your SD card (Only if your phone supports an external SD card, of course)
  6. If you have rooted and/or installed a custom rom we can’t troubleshoot properly. Please reset your phone to factory settings and try again

2013-01-15:

I'm not yet convinced that this issue is resolved, but responses have died down quite a bit of late.

I am told by the developers that this is mostl a tempoar issue for users; that after a while the issue resolves itself on individual devices.

I also want to note that some responses in this thread indicate that two issues are being mixed up. The particular issue being discussed here is that playlists will not start downloading for offline use on your Android device.

To the point: Is anyone here having problems downloading playlists on their Android device and if so, has this been going on for longer than a month?

Hey,

I appear to be having the downloading issue as well.

Defy XT ~

(Republic wireless phone)

64 Gig SD card.

When I hit download on a play list, it thinks for a minute and then comes back with

Syncing error

Unknown error.

Continue

I will have to cancel subscription if this isn't fixed.

Best wishes,

I am having this problem. I have a HTC Vivid, and in the past month, playlists on my mobile device have been disappearing. Last night I uninstalled spotify, cleared my cache, and reinstalled. My songs downloaded all night, but when I left my house with the wifi, all of my playlists disappeared. This is very irritating. I do not have over 3,333 songs, and I even took off some playlists on my phone to make more room but that doesn't seem to work. Downloading the playlists seems to be stuck in a loop where it doesn't get past 100 songs. Is there a phone number for IT support, because I have read all of these trouble shooting guides and posts from other people, but they are less than helpful. Please respond soon.

This happens for me still.  Two playlists are stuck at 0%. Tried switch to wifi with no help, rebooted, etc.  Will continue to try and debug and see if anything helps.

I still continue to have this issue. At some point the download will stop resulting in partial playlists and a couple haven't even started. I've tried the recommended stops and it fixes the issues temporarily but then it stops working again. Something needs to be done. If enough people have the problem then it's not the users' fault.

Hi,

Don't mean to beat a dead horse, but this has been an annoying problem for me as well. I read through and found that the workaround of plugging your android into your computer has actually worked. A bit odd and maybe annoying, but I can now download playlists whenever my phone is plugged into my laptop.

Thanks

Have to say the symptoms described in this Bug thread have more than a little in common with those described in long-running, unresolved bug [Android] New music won't stay downloaded <http://community.spotify.com/t5/Bugs/Android-New-music-won-t-stay-downloaded/td-p/162992/page/29>  as well as Bug [Android] App using a lot of mobile data <http://community.spotify.com/t5/Bugs/Android-App-using-a-lot-of-mobile-data/td-p/241958>

The whole offline/online thing seems to have become completely unstable on many Android platforms, and the flagship feature of Spotify Premium unusable.

Is there any joined-up thinking going on at Spotify HQ?

Same problem. Download gets stuck at 0%.

rhinocerousryan

same problem still exists. Downloads stuck at 0%.

Description

When I try to download a playlist on my Android device it stays stuck on "Downloading 0%", the playlist doesn't sync

(yes, exactly ! how did you know this would be the problem???)

What are the steps you took to get to the error/issue?

(We need to know what you are doing so we can do the exact same to try and get the same error)

1. First

i hit download playlist (on wifi)

2. Then

nothing happened...downloading 0% of 345 songs

3. I also did this:

signed out of spotify, signed in using facebook instead of spotify details... same result

signed out, cleared spotify cache, unintalled spotify, turned off phone, reset phone, reinstalled spotify downloaded a different playlist.. same result.. downloading 0% of 12 songs downloading

toggled quality of download normal/extreme, toggled download over 2/3G, same result.... 0% of 12 songs downloading

4. then this

looked on here for answers... there are none...

Also for some reason, even when the task is stoped by the task manager, the 'downloading 0% of 12 songs'still remains in the notifications bar even though it doesnt come up in the running applications screen....?

What I expected to happen

This is what I expected to happen

Example:

When I press the green download button I expect the playlist to start downloading and reach 100%... DUH

This is terrible. I am facing the same problem and I've tried everything that has been mentioned on the thread. I have more than enough space on my phone.  I have downloaded all the playlists on my laptop but they do not appear on my phone as downloaded, moreover when I try downloading again on my phone, it stays stuck on 0%.
