Hey folks,

Thanks for bearing with us so far.

This should be now fixed.

Hey, I have the same problem.

Xiaomi MI A2 Lite

Android 8.1.0 (september)

Spotify: 8.4.72.845 armV7

Clearly, the app doesn`t fully support 19:9 screen.

Jemi

Hey @davidhasnexus,

Could you reinstall the app? There should be a newer version out.

Let us know if it doesn't work, and the version you got.

Thanks!

Hello @Jemi

As stated before, I also have the same problem and I have installed the new version.

For me it still doesn't work.

App version: 8.4.74.463 armV7

Android version: 8.1.0 - September patch

redxml

I can only agree with previous users. Defect still occurs

Tested on:

- version 8.4.74.463 armV7

- android 8.1.0 (September security patch installed)

I made full data wipe before instalation of new version

Hello @Jemi @Peter @redxml,

This problem is very easy to solve, as mentionned here:

https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Android-Optimize-the-Spotify-app-for-long-screens-such-a...

Spotify developpers just have to add this line of code in  the <application> tag of the [AndroidManifest.xml] file:

<meta-data android:name="android.max_aspect" android:value="2.1" />

You just have to decompile the APK, add or replace this line of code and recompile the APK to fix the problem manually).

I've done this fix on the latest version and it works on my A2 Lite (btw, this works for other devices too).

You can get the fixed APK HERE . Just uninstall the spotify app you already have and install this new APK to fix the problem.

Hope it will help you,

Clovis Cheminot

Thank you @ClovisCheminot  and @forastero for the solutions provided. This works nicely.

I assume that I'll probably have to manually update the Spotify app everytime a new version is released since this is a manual intervention in the AndroidManifest file, right?

Could spotify staff provide this fix on the app's actual GA? @Jemi @Peter @redxml

I have no idea, after next update i'll tell here if it's a permanent fix or not but spotify could have fixed this a looooong time ago but they just dont fix it and i dont think they are going to fix it any time soon
