My Question or Issue

Starting this week, the app stopped auto rotating to landscape view on the current song page. On any other page, it works like normal and goes to landscape.

I have restarted my phone, reinstalled the app, and restarted again. No change.

Hey everyone,

We really appreciate your reports on this.

We just wanted to let you know that the right folks have taken a look at this for you.

Right now, we're not able to provide an exact timeline for a fix, but we'd recommend always keeping your Spotify apps up-to- date to ensure you're on the latest and best version.

Thanks!

Same here on Lenovo Moto Z. Any Page rotate without problem Just not the main screen of player.

We are paying for "Premium" which is **bleep** from few updates. Also hiding controlls (repeat) is anoying when driving with phone in landscape mode

Same for me. I use spotify in the car and always have it in landscape mode. Ridiculous idea. Making Deezer more attractive every day !!  Cone on Spotify get your act together.

Agree that it hides the Android software controls.

Mine also eventually crashes the whole screen and restarts if you just leave it playing on the black screen.

I currently use a Samsung S9 on Android 8 in the UK and my landscape mode has also stopped working

I use it a lot whilst at work with my phone on a stand.

Why has it stopped working and is there a fix

Suspectus

Mine stopped as well on a Galaxy S9+. I used Spotify a lot on road trips and that is the reason I pay Premium. I mirror it on my car screen on landscape mode and controll the app with the cars multimedia buttons or touch screen.

If I cannot use this feature any more, the app is useless for me. Very bad idea.

In fact my phone crashes if I try to get to the playing screen when I disable autorotate and force it on landscape. Galaxy phone have this feature built in and now they crash with spotify.

Hope you solve it on the next update or I'm mooving to youtube.

Suspectus

With the last update, today (10/10/2018) everything is going back to normal. Thanks Spotify.

Edit: Stopped again!!! I swear it worked for a few times after the update but when I tryed in the car with the autorotate blocked and mirroring activated, didn't worked. 😞

I had an update 16 hours ago in the UK. It still doesn't work

dbongard

Updated yesterday but noticed no change.

I don't wait for my phone to crash anymore.

Official Spotify Test Procedure:

1 launch Spotify

2 press on current song (to open the album art page and audio controls screen)

3 observe the typical frozen blacked out screen and lost Android buttons

4 rip the battery out and restart the phone

5 write an account of it on here where nobody from Spotify will ever reply

Suspectus

What I do when it frozes, is:

1. Lock the phone.

2. Tap the power button once to see the lock screen.

3. Slide the menu from the top.

4. Activate back autorotate.

5. Unlock the phone.

6. Now spotify should be able to autorotate and unfreeze.

At least on my Galaxy S9+ it works this way.
