Bluetooth Controller in car doesnt skip tracks anymore

Hey,

i have a A2 Lite  with Android 9 and since i have the  mobile phone,

my BT Media controller on my steeling wheel cannot skip any tracks on my mobile , wich is connected to my carradio. Without beeing connected to my car, the BT controller works fine.

I´ve deleted the App Chace, reinstalled it, and Spotify has all permissions.

Anyone else with this issue?

Hey folks,

Thank you for reporting this issue to us.

We just wanted to let you know that the right folks are looking into this.

We're not able to provide an exact timeline for a fix, but we'd recommend always keeping your Spotify app up to date to ensure you're on the latest version.

Thanks again!

Status changed to: Need more info

Hey all,

We're seeing reports that the buttons to control playback in a car still aren't working.

In the meantime, we'd recommend trying the steps below to see if they do the trick:

  • Make sure that all relevant permissions are enabled for the Spotify app
  • Spotify is set as an exception for any cache-clearing or battery optimization apps
  • Try logging out and back to your Spotify account on the app to shake things up
  • Restart your device
  • Try a quick reinstall of the app by following the steps here

If the issue persists after these, make sure to add your +VOTE to keep updated. It'd be also helpful if you could let us know the following:

  • Your device
  • The operating system of your device and its version (eg. Android 8.0)
  • The version of Spotify on your mobile device
  • Does this occur when using a different device, or when you aren't using Bluetooth?

Thanks!

Yes, same issue.

Tried fresh install. Running latest Android on P20 pro.

No problem with the previous version 8.4.*

Version 8.5.*** doesn't work at all. Clearly a software defect when rolling back the version fixes the problem.

Hey all,

unfortunately none of the suggested solution worked.

But deleting all and installling and old Version ( 8.4.90 ) everthing works fine.

Kind regards

Christian

I have tried everything described and it continues without working the function "back" in the songs that are reproduced automatically when finishing a playlist.

I have disabled the battery optimization, close and open session, restart the device etc.

I've even tried different Bluetooth profiles and it does not work either 😞

Device: Xiaomi A2 (Android 9.0), OnePlus 7 Pro (Android 9.0), Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth Speaker (MDZ-26-D8), Volkswagen Golf 7 (Composite Discovery).

Spotify version: 8.5.7.999

This problem ONLY occurs through bluetooth. If you use the "back" function from the smartphone it works perfectly.

I'm using a Moto G5S Plus, Android version 8.1.0, Spotify version 8.5.7.999. I can no longer control Spotify using the steering wheel controls in my car. I have also tried uninstalling, reinstalling, clearing the cache, turning off the battery optimization, making sure the app has all permissions etc. Nothing works. Would be glad to see this finally fixed.

Using Nokia 8 phone Android 9 latest update of Spotify, have tried all your suggestions above, clearing data and cache, logging out in to Spotify, restarting phone, uninstall/reinstall Spotify, also toggled app permissions several times and turn off battery optimization for Spotify.

When I started Spotify it worked on car controls for mini cooper and track display also showed tracks for first time.

However it was short lived. As soon as phone locked and car restarted everything stopped working again as before. It definitely since the update over the last month. It used to work seamlessly before that. It's REALLY ANNOYING. I note that Amazon music app works fine on car controls on same phone!

StudleyMax

Note as posted in another thread installing version 8.4.99.111 of Spotify makes it all work seamlessly again, so clearly bugs related to new versions.

Make sure that all relevant permissions are enabled for the Spotify app

Which permissions would need to be enabled?

My details:

  • Motorola Moto Z Play (XT1635-02)
  • Android 8.0.0 (security patch level: 1 August 2018, build number: OPNS27.76-12-22-9)
  • Spotify version: 8.5.9.737
  • Only happens in my 2018 BMW X1 car stereo with Bluetooth connection

This started completely not working - I'm guessing - 5 or 6 patches ago and it started acting funky (skipping would usually work, but sometimes it wouldn't) 2 or 3 patches before that.

Hi,

and thanks for the reply. I've tried all of the suggested fixes a number of
times, and the problem persists. This has been going on for a number of
months now, and since I use Spotify a lot in my car, I'd really like to see
the problem solved.

Best,
