Cannot use the Web Player from Internet Explorer 11

Lots of people reporting the same problem in the community here:

The issue is that rather than a player interface appearing a page is shown telling you to enable playback in the browser. This is a recent change.

Note that for many users in work environments changing the browser and installing software are not an option. Also I cannot use mobiles or tablets in the workplace so IE 11 is my only portal to Spotify at work.

Can someone at Spotify please comment on this?.

Hi everybody!

We've created this post regarding this topic, in order to clarify the situation. As we released a new web player a few weeks back, only the following web browsers meet the requirements to run it: Chrome 45+, Firefox 47+ and Edge 14+. You can also check this info here

We understand how you all feel, and that many of you don't have access to a different web browser. Have for sure that we'll pass all your feedback on to the right team.

Any other questions that you have, don't hesitate to get back to us.

Take care.

I'm having the same problem. Work computer. Only have access to IE and it's saying I have to install a plug in. It doesn't give an option for IE anyway and I can't download a plug in let alone an app on this computer.

me too.. it was ok on monday :'(

Hi, Apologies for what may be a silly question but how do I download that plug in you siggested?

Thank you

Have anyone found a fix for this? this is driving me nuts! why cant we just revert back to how it was last week when everything worked like a charm!

When you follow the link from player to the 'support page' there are 3 links, Chrome, Fire Fox, and Edge, each of these would have the plug in i  thinkg, but Spotify haven't added an option for Internet Explorer so there isn't one available

Yeah i also have IE 11, and I am also on a work PC so downloading anything is not an option...

I had the exact same problem.

But although I'm working on a pc at work where I don't have administrator rights, I managed to install google chrome. Apparantly you don't need them to install the browser.

Now I can use the webplayer again!

Hope this also works for you

I have the same issue, problems started after my computer installed some updates for Windows 7 which leads me to think that the problems were introduced by Microsoft and not Spotify.

It's an interesting theory.

It is disappointing that there has been no word from Spotify that they are aware of this issue or even looking into what is causing it.

I have the same problem. If I cannot use Spotify at work, then I don't need Spotify at all. Is there a way to find out, if anyone is working on this issue?
