And the songs keep skipping without me touching the skip button when I choose a random playlist.... But no sound, no playing...Only skipping like a disease, and then it stops. Fix it?!

Hey @Inustaff, welcome to the Spotify Community!

We’d like to know a bit more about what’s happening. Can you let us know what’s the operating system and version of Spotify you’re using? We’ll see what we can suggest.

We’ll be waiting for your answer 🙂

Inustaff

I just updated Spotify today, but the problem keeps coming. It was EXTREMELY ANNOYING when I had people over for beer and music at saturday night and this happened.
There is nothing else happening then this message that WThis song is not available. If you have this song on your computer you can import it. Nothing else. The other day I tried to play other random playlist at Spotify, but then it skipped and skipped, but never started any song, cause it wont play any.
I think it is enormously bad service at Spotify, having to wait for an answer at a "community" to get problems solved. And when you get an answer the problem have been there for hours or days...
Where can I et DIRECT HELP with this problem? I am not paying for something I can not use.
So god darn bad to have people over for the first time after I moved her, and music says "Goodbye"
Someone at "Spotify" should know what this problem is.....?

Where is the place we get discount for about 5 days with malfunction? 😉

Thanks for getting back to us @Inustaff! We'll help you out with this.

Just to confirm, is this happening to your local files? If so, please remove them:

  1. Head to Preferences
  2. Local Files

If that doesn't work, please check if you have any updates available for your device:

  1. Open Device Manager (Windows + X, or Windows + Break, then Device Manager)
  2. Open/Expand Sound, Video and Game controllers
  3. Right-click the device and select "Update Driver Software ..."
  4. Select "Search automatically for updated driver software"
  5. Follow guide.

Let us know how it goes or, if you have any questions. We'll be here for you.

Sophia,

I'm having the same issue - "This song is not available. If you have the file on your computer you can import it." However, if I play it from any other device it will play. **bleep** Spotify? I only kept Spotify becuase I could login on my work computer, but now it seems like I'll just contimue using iMusic since this is apparently going to **bleep** for everyone...

Hi @user-removed, thanks for writing on the Community. We'd love to help you out.

Can you let us know the operative system and Spotify version you're currently using? Also, can you try following the steps that @Sophia previously sent? Let us know how it goes.

@Inustaff, were you able to solve the issue on your app with the steps @Sophia sent you? Keep us posted.

Yes, I solved the issue. I had to uncheck (in macOS Siera 10.12.1) Spotify
> Preferences > Local Files > iTunes. Reason, Spotify had identified the
album before, but it was on my external HDD which was not hooked up at the
time. Thanks!
