[Car View] Landscape rotation doesn't work

My Question or Issue

The newest update seems to have completely disabled the auto landscape rotation for Spotify for me, in all screens. As of yesterday it worked fine, but as soon as I downloaded the new update with the updated car mode this morning, it seems to be fixed to portrait/vertical view no matter what I do.

I tried restarting the phone, quitting/re-opening Spotify, disabling and re-enabling car mode, and disabling/re-enabling the rotation feature on my phone. No effect. All other apps on my phone rotate as normal.

I'm really hoping that this is a bug and not something that was intended, as having Spotify locked to vertical makes the car mode mostly useless for me, and completely removes the functionality the old style allowed for (for my needs). The new buttons aren't large enough to be of use with where I have to put my phone in my car, and I'm not interested in forcing a change to voice commands only.

Hoping this gets fixed quickly, if a bug. Thank you!

Yeah. I placed my phone horizontally when I'm driving. So, without the landscape mode it make everything harder.

Same problem, was working great, after the update it doesn't rotate unless I turn off car mode.

Thanks for posting.

We'd like to do some troubleshooting and get some further insight into what might be causing this. Could you let us know if you experience the same behavior when using a different smartphone?

We'd also appreciate it if you send us a screenshot of the settings menu in the app to see if the Car View section is visible there. You can attach it via the Insert Photo option in the post editor, just make sure to hide any private/ sensitive info.

Thanks for your speedy reply and the screenshot.

Could you let us know if it makes a difference if you switch Car Mode to Always on, then back to Only in a car? If that doesn't do the trick, it's a good idea to perform a clean reinstall using these steps. That way we can check whether or not corrupted app files are causing this behavior.

It makes no difference. I already tried this somes days ago. Reinstalling the app makes also no difference. I switched back to an older version (8.5.82.894) and its working again.

We’re receiving reports that landscape rotation in Car View doesn't work after the latest update.

First, we'd recommend trying a clean reinstall of the app on your device by following the steps here.

If after that you’re still having trouble with this, could you provide us with the following info:

• Device + OS version. If you have the option to test it with a second device, please include its model and OS version as well
• A screenshot of the settings menu, so we know if the Car View section is visible there
• Exact Spotify version

Note that we need all of the info above in order to report this.  If you've provided some of the details, it'd be great if you leave a new comment later on with all the relevant info we're asking for. Once we have that, we will pass it on to the relevant team, who will look further into it.

Oneplus 5T - OxygenOS version 10.0.1. 

I feel like youguys are pretending like the new update doesn't come with the new car mode which youguys purposely redesign without landscape orientation in mind just like the previous version update to the "normal mode". C'mon man. Give us what we want. Either allow landscape in the new car mode or allow us to choose the older car mode version in the setting.

Plus "only in car" doesn't even work. It never once did detect me when i'm in my car either with bluetooth or wired jack.
