Same issues happening to me since the update. Google pixel 5. I've tried clearing cache. Uninstalling. Reinstalling. Restarting. Literally nothing works. This only works IF Spotify is open at the time the alarm goes off. The issue is that Spotify will not open w the clock.

Same issue here with me and my wife's Pixel 3a XL's since around last week.

Thanks for the additional information everyone! If you haven't already, could you please also be sure to let us know the make, model, OS version and Spotify app version you're currently using? The Spotify version can be found in your Spotify settings, and if you all could add that to what you've shared so far it would be really helpful as the issue is looked into further.

I actually discovered this same thing so can validate that this is exactly what is happening to me.  My alarms stopped working a week ago when the Spotify app silently updated.  Crash logs indicate that Google Alarm app was crashing everytime an alarm fired.  I ended up working around it a different way.  I use MacroDroid to start Spotify app early in the morning before any of my morning alarms typically are.  That way I don't have to always set up two alarms for each one I want to actually work and I don't risk having both alarms going off.  I realize I'm relying on the assumption that Spotify isn't terminating itself between the time I have the macro running and when my alarm going off.  I've tested it with a 15-30 minute window and it seems to be working so far.

My guess is that the recent Spotify update has an idle timeout that terminates itself after some idle time to save battery usage.  This is not a bad thing but if the Google Alarm app doesn't handle the error when calling the sdk to play Spotify when it's not running in background, then this happens.  The fact that Spotify does start when the first alarm fires indicates the bug might simply be on the exception handling, or lack thereof, on the Alarm app side.

Same issue.

I agree that it is most likely the most recent update caused the issue.

My phone is not set up for automatic updates (usually to try and avoid issues such as this).

I updated my phone to latest spotify on thursday the 26th,. The next morning, my alarm would not connect to spotify.

Same situation here, it just light up the screen and some times shows a notification of missed alarm.
Clearing cache and data works for the next few minutes but for the morning alarm no chance, apparently Spotify is managing power too much or taking too long to load.
