@jskinvest, one of the mods mentioned in this other related thread that the fix is scheduled for next week. You might keep an eye on that particular thread for any related updates as it's a bit more active at the moment. I did notice a couple users mentioned they are still running into the alarm issue with a more recent update, but I don't have any details on that, so at the moment I'm assuming that's not the update that was supposed to include the fix for this.

Thank you. Yes I also received an update this week but the alarm issue still persists for me as well.

I'm affected by this as well. I literally missed a flight on Friday, August 27th because of this issue. I'm reaching out to Spotify to pursue compensation.

Also, when I first tried to post this message, I wasn't yet registered for the community. As part of the posting process, I signed up, and immediately experienced the attached error.

Seriously, Spotify, get it together.

The issue isn't that a chosen song is not playing with the Google Clock app; a very short tone/vibration is played OR there is no alarm whatsoever.

Please update the issue accordingly, otherwise it may result in lower visibility of the issue when searching.

I have exactly same problem. Thought I was going mad as when I tested when setting alarm songs play but kept sleeping through my alarm. At first I assumed that I was really tired but some further testing shows alarm notification comes up but no sound. I'm on a Moto G9 Play with Android 11, and app is up to date.

Fixing this problem does not require waiting until next week, or waiting for the next release.

A basic component of the CI/CD SAAS deployment model includes ROLLBACK for releases with problems when testing does capture them before release.

How to rollback to working version:

Turn off auto updates in the google play Store
Settings/Network Preferences/Auto Update Apps/Dont Auto Update
If you do not yet have a google file manager, get one. GFM does not allow APK installs.
Use a non google search engine to search for Spotify APK
I got version 8.6.48.796 from early august that works fine
Download the APK
Uninstall the defective Spotify release
Use the non google file manager to browse your downloads dir and install the older working release of Spotify
Click yes/trust to allow install from source other than google play.

Like this post here to tell spotify you disapprove of their model that does not include rollback for defective apps. They could very easily re-publish the working version with a new version number.

Reply to this post on Google forum to tell them they should allow rollback for all Play store apps, without the the 10 manual steps described above https://support.google.com/googleplay/thread/124367249/play-store-should-support-rollback

I've had this issue for several weeks now. Clean reinstall and update did nothing to resolve the issue. Nor did giving full permissions. Please fix this.
