My Question or Issue

EDIT: This seems to have been fixed (at least it works for me now) as of version 1.1.58.820.g2ae50076-a

Has anyone worked out how to get to the current song playing in a playlist again in the new desktop update? You used to be able to click on the album art and jump to the current song playing in that playlist, but clicking the album art doesn't do anything anymore. I looked through the keyboard shortcuts using Ctrl+? but only saw an option to jump to current playing playlist, not the song as well. Any help would be appreciated, or at least confirmation from others that this option seems to have been removed.

It will rather annoying if that's been removed entirely, as it was said in the update that they improved and added more navigation to the desktop app...? Thanks!

Hey folks,

Thanks for your patience while we looked into this issue.

We’re happy to say that this should now be fixed for everyone! Just make sure your app is updated to the latest version.

If you're still having trouble, make sure to post a new thread in the relevant help board here.

Thanks!

Yes, you did it again. You can't jump to the song in by clicking on the thumbnail. Why you take that off??? Now Is a pain in the *** to edit playlist, specially if they are large.

That's all I want, is very simple, it was there for a long time, but not now.

Try it..if you do it, you just go to the top of the list.

Thanks.

My Question or Issue

I'm using the Spotify Windows desktop app. Occasionally, I forget what playlist a song is playing from and don't know how to figure out what playlist it is. I used to be able to click on the album art in the lower left corner of the app, and Spotify would take me to the playlist or playlist radio. However, recently (within the last couple months), it only takes me to the album the song is from. How do I find the playlist the song is playing from now?

Ivan

Hey @reedd142

Thanks for searching for the answer you need here!

You can see the playlist in which the current track is included by visiting the Recently played section of the Spotify app.

If you use the web player the playlist will appear immediately in the Recently played hub.

Keep us posted! We'll be happy to lend a hand if you need more help.

Also, running a playlist radio then clicking on the current song's album art used to bring you to a page that would show you the station and the music upcoming. Now it just brings me to a blank page. This attached image is the "Acoustic Spring" playlist radio.

Hey @sillysoraya, the good news is this feature seems to still be present, as I was testing it some earlier and was able to jump to the correct locations in several playlists by clicking the album artwork. That said, it seemed a bit inconsistent and stopped working for me too at times.

Thanks for posting, and I'll see if I can get some more information on this for you!

Hi, thank you for your reply.
It does seem inconsistent - today when selecting the album artwork, it jumps to the song queue as opposed to it's place in the playlist, but that's more than it was doing yesterday.

The issue is, it doesn't jump into the autoplay radio anymore, just to the album of that particular song. Even viewing what's being played on the mobile app it shows as "song radio based on" and the name is blank. Seems like a bug?? Any workaround for the song/playlist autoplay radios?

Hey @Mantve, I'm aware that it jumps to the album instead of radio, and I'm assuming at this point that's by design, although that's definitely odd that it's displaying the way you described in the mobile app.

That said, the workaround I use on desktop at the moment is to just click the queue icon towards the bottom right to see the list of upcoming tracks. Unfortunately, this doesn't currently tell you what the autoplay is based on, but you can at least see what tracks will be playing.

No problem @sillysoraya, and thanks for the update. That's really strange that it's jumping to the song queue for you now, and that's one thing I have yet to experience myself. Could you please tell me if the issues you're having are occurring with all playlists or just certain ones? Also, are they playlists that you created or ones that you follow and were created by another user?

I've been experimenting with this myself to try to narrow down the issue and noticed that sorting the playlists by clicking the column headers, such as album, date added, etc., seems to trigger the original issue on lengthy playlists and that I can resolve it by resetting the playlist to "custom order."

sillysoraya

Hi @dinomight , going back on Spotify and going on and off all my custom playlists, turning the playlist order from artist to custom and back again, and eventually I can get most of the playlists to actually jump to the song playing in the playlist correctly (but not all of them weirdly, one persons playlist won't play ball...). So I'm not confident enough to say it's working now, as it's changed what happens when I select album art 3 times now.
But for now it seems to be working for the majority, which is good.

Edit: Mind you as soon as I've shut spotify then re-open it it breaks again until I click around all over on and off a few times and it works again.... definitely temperamental.
