My Question or Issue

EDIT: This seems to have been fixed (at least it works for me now) as of version 1.1.58.820.g2ae50076-a

Has anyone worked out how to get to the current song playing in a playlist again in the new desktop update? You used to be able to click on the album art and jump to the current song playing in that playlist, but clicking the album art doesn't do anything anymore. I looked through the keyboard shortcuts using Ctrl+? but only saw an option to jump to current playing playlist, not the song as well. Any help would be appreciated, or at least confirmation from others that this option seems to have been removed.

It will rather annoying if that's been removed entirely, as it was said in the update that they improved and added more navigation to the desktop app...? Thanks!

Hey folks,

Thanks for your patience while we looked into this issue.

We’re happy to say that this should now be fixed for everyone! Just make sure your app is updated to the latest version.

If you're still having trouble, make sure to post a new thread in the relevant help board here.

Thanks!

@Ver - I put this literally 2 comments up, but I'm on PC desktop Windows 7 64 bit home edition, Spotify version 1.1.57.443.ga029a6c4-a. Thank you for your help!
To reiterate, it only works when in 'custom order' mode, not ordering by Artist etc.

When I click the album artwork and it does decide to pull up the correct playlist, it selects the wrong song when the play list is sorted by anything other than the default order. I usually sort them in reverse order (latest added at the top), and I can tell it selects exactly the reverse item in the playlist. For example, if it should select the first item in the playlist, it selects the last one.

This is partially fixed in 1.1.58.820.g2ae50076-a. The jump works with sorting now but doesn't happen at all if the playlist is already open which greatly diminishes the value of this feature.

@douira _ thank you for letting me know, I just updated and it works for me now too!

Finally, thank you Spotify for fixing this 🙂    🙂
To confirm, this is fixed on my Windows 7 Desktop app, Spotify version 1.1.58.820.g2ae50076-a

The issue of the OP (jump to song entry in playlist when clicking cover art of playing song) works fine when the cover art is enlarged in the leftside column (arrow up icon). It does not work when cover art is minimized on the lower left corner, not clear why that is.

Incredibly bad app development that moves this future in/out per small release. Why is this so hard to get right?

You did it again (and again and again) - the feature to click the album cover of the song being played was removed in the new release (again and again). 1.1.58.820.g2ae50076-a

How hard is this? Is there no quality control of releases prior to being - relased?

I'm still having the same issue. The player won't switch to the current song playing. I always gotta reboot my phone for it to work. And I'm using a galaxy note 20 ultra. I will hear the new song playing but the thumbnail won't change to that album
