My Question or Issue

EDIT: This seems to have been fixed (at least it works for me now) as of version 1.1.58.820.g2ae50076-a

Has anyone worked out how to get to the current song playing in a playlist again in the new desktop update? You used to be able to click on the album art and jump to the current song playing in that playlist, but clicking the album art doesn't do anything anymore. I looked through the keyboard shortcuts using Ctrl+? but only saw an option to jump to current playing playlist, not the song as well. Any help would be appreciated, or at least confirmation from others that this option seems to have been removed.

It will rather annoying if that's been removed entirely, as it was said in the update that they improved and added more navigation to the desktop app...? Thanks!

Hey folks,

Thanks for your patience while we looked into this issue.

We’re happy to say that this should now be fixed for everyone! Just make sure your app is updated to the latest version.

If you're still having trouble, make sure to post a new thread in the relevant help board here.

Thanks!

For me it works fine in version 1.1.58.820.g2ae50076-a

Mac OS 10.14.6 (18G6020)

Even when the cover art is minimized to fit into the bottom bar?

@Edwin71  - mine works the way you've pictured above, however I'm fine having the album art maximised so it doesn't bother me personally re. the jump not working with minimised album art 🙂

Edwin71

@sillysoraya - I just updated to version 1.1.59.712.g54f36e5d-a (on Windows) and now it works fine, both when cover art is minimized and maximized. It even jumps to the correct song when the playlist is sorted by anything other than the default! (has been a pain in the old UI for a very long time)

It does also work in the minimised state now but clicking on the album art if the current playlist is open doesn't jump to the current song for me. Only if the song is not in the currently opened playlist. So it's 70% fixed.

Edwin71

@douira - Haha indeed, if you scroll in the current playlist and then click the maximized cover art, it jumps to the playing song. If you do the same, but instead you click the minimized cover art, nothing happens and ... switching to maximized cover art doesn't help. Jumping is broken again ...

Really Spotify, your QA process sucks, it is getting seriously ridiculous.

@Novy according to this https://spotify.en.uptodown.com/windows/versions I am on the latest version (1.1.59.712.g54f36e5d-a on Windows) and the issue is still not completely fixed.

Consider this:

  • in a playlist play a song (e.g. track 5)
  • scroll down and select (don't play, just select) track 20
  • click on the cover art (minimized or maximized, it doesn't matter) to jump to the playing track -> ok
  • scroll down again and select e.g. track 21
  • click on the cover art
  • does not jump to the playing track anymore
(the gray focus bar disappears, so I guess something happens, but the playing song does not scroll into view)

Why are you not seeing the same (annoying) behavior?

douira

Yeah this is not completely fixed. There's at least one other thread regarding the parts of this issue they didn't fix.
