[Connect] Can't play songs saved to Your Library on Connect devices

Hey folks,


We’re receiving reports that it's not possible to play certain songs on Connect devices.


First, we'd recommend trying a clean reinstall of the app on your device by following the steps here.


If after that you’re still experiencing the issue, could you provide us with the following info:

  • device you're connecting from + OS version
  • exact Spotify version
  • external device you're connecting to + version
  • which songs is this happening with?

Once we have that, we will pass it on to the relevant team, who will look further into it.

Thanks for your patience while we looked into this issue.

We’re happy to say that this should now be fixed for everyone!


Make sure you to perform a clean reinstall of the app to ensure the changes are reflected in the app.



Works OK for me since 2 weeks or so. I'm on android 9.

@Manuel_V  No point arguing. I don't know what YOUR issue is but for many others THIS issue is resolved. Admittedly only recently, but it has been fixed. I reported the issue months ago and only recently was it fixed.


Have you updated your software, have you performed the steps advised. 


For me (and others it seems) it IS fixed.


If you don't share the same experience as others are seeing then get in touch with support because this issue has very definitely been resolved.


This is still an issue, my iPhone and iPad have started doing this when playing any playlist and it is getting seriously annoying. Music starts and then will randomly stop with ‘connecting’ at the bottom. 



  • device you're connecting from + OS version:  Desktop app + Windows 10 
  • exact Spotify version: I don't know how to find that information, but I just did a clean install so the most recent one
  • external device you're connecting to + version: none, I'm trying to play through my PC
  • which songs is this happening with? No specific songs, all my playlists are giving me the "can't play this song" error" and just not doing anything. It is working find on my phone app.
  • device you're connecting from + OS version:  Moto Z3 Play + Android 9.0
  • exact Spotify version:
  • external device you're connecting to + version: Chromecast Audio version 1.42.172094 stable
  • which songs is this happening with? all my playlists

And we're back with Chromecast connectivity issues. Since yesterday, Spotify won't connect to any of my Chromecasts. I guess it was too good to last.


Also broken here.

Connecting to Chromecast Audio from Spotify app (android) produces the "doink" sound on speakers connected to the Chromecast, but spotify will not connect and play music. The app indicates "connecting". It gives up in a minute or so.

Force stopped Spotify, delete cache and data. No luck.

Removed and reinstalled Spotify on my Android handset. No luck.

Factory defaulted the Chromecast Audio via Google Home. No luck.

Google Play Music works fine from handset and with Chromecast Audio...... Seems problem is likely with Spotify.

Paid subscriber to Spotify. This is a big bummer.

We're really back to that old issue that lasted for months. Who knows how long it will last this time?


I have to stop updating Spotify.


I suffered this issue back then, but now it's working fine for me (latest Android app version).
