@xelamok: Chromecast and "Spotify connect" are two different protocols. One is Google's and implemented by Spotify, the other one is developped by Spotify for it self. I think that they both rely on the same principle (a controller on the network, and the receiver which understands simple commands and which is then able to stream the data by it self), but the technical details may be different.

Moreover, one question that I keep asking to Spotify but for which I never had any answer: Does "Spotify Connect" use the same servers / same stream than regular Spotify?

I don't know why Spotify won't answer this question. Maybe the problem is as simple as that: some servers may be dedicated to "Spotify Connect" hardwares, and may not be correctly sized for the amount of user. Just a supposition, though. But if Chromecast use the "regular" Spotify servers, it may explain why it works in this case.

Spotify does not recognise my Denon 730AE in the 'connect to other devices' list all the time. Sometimes it works , sometimes not.

My WiFi is fine and the internet radio on the Denon works perfectly. Has anyone else had this problem and how do I fix it ?

Thanks

I give up. Moved to Apple Music.

I am having the Spotify Connect intermittent disconnect issue on my Sony HT-XT3 (latest firmware v M28.R.0343). This happens from all devices - Macbool Pro OSX 10.11.4 (Spotify v 1.0.25.127.g58007b4c), iPhone 6S iOS 9.3 (Spotify v 5.2.0.1205), iPad Air 2 iOS 9.2.1 (Spotify v 5.2.0.1205).

I get about 15-30 seconds of play before the audio stops.

On all devices, streaming quality has been tested at Automatic and Normal.

All devices and the Sony have been restarted.

I am on a 50mbps Vodafone fibre connection in New Zealand. Yes, all devices are on the same network.

As per @h_mac above, the Sony is sometimes not even recognised in the list, even when turned on. I believe that the Spotify Connect service experiences regular technical issues and outages which may or may not be related to time of day. Right now (3.45pm NZT / 2.45am GMT) it's playing fine, but this morning (between 10-11am NZT / 9-10pm GMT) it was no-go. I will continue to attempt connections at various times and report back.

Spotify - it is time to stop fishing for hardware issues outside of your control, as this issue spans multiple brands and devices, across multiple continents and countries. This is a Spotify Connect issue, plain and simple, so stop with the scape goating and fix it please.

Hi,
for me this problem still persists.

Hardware: Denon CEOL N9 (newest firmeware)

iPhone 6s (iOS 9.3.2)

spotify app newest version

Problem: AirPlay works, spotify connect does not connect at all.

Been dealing with this issue for well over 1 month. All on home network wifi.

Spotify Connect shows the Pioneer VSX-824 receiver but doesnt connect via app on iphone 4s vers. 9.3.2 or Surface Pro 3.

Receiver doesnt require updates according to Pioneer.

I've unplugged receiver, rebooted router, uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify app on Surface Pro.

Airplay works fine via Spotify app on iphone.

Bluetooth connects to local music files on iphone and received shows up on Surface connected devices.

Spotify version 1.0.33.106.g60b5d1f0

Not sure what brought this all on, random onset.

Any ideas, getting more than fed up!!

Hi larissam,

for me the issue us resolved. It was definitively my Spotify username which contained a '#' character.
The Spotify support was very helpful and moved my account to a new one (without special character) in a very short time.
Denon released a firmware update a few days later. I could not test if this would have resolved my issue.

Good luck!
