Connect only plays 100 song chunks of playlists

Device:

 Windows

Operating System Version:

Win 7

Spotify Version:

10.21.143.g76c19bcd

Description:

When I play music over connect the remote computer only seems to have access to the 100 subsequent songs from the song I start playing from. For example, if have a playlist of songs from 1:200 and start playing song 1, then press the previous song button instead of playing song 200 it plays song 100. Subsequent presses of the previous song button play tracks 99,98,97... etc. The same issue appears to occur if I have shuffle turned on.

To reproduce:

  1. Play music over spotify connect

Workaround:

 N/A

Additional information:

Occurs both with computer to computer play as well as phone to computer play.

Only occurs when the playlist is started on the "remote" device. For example, if I want to control my computer via my phone, the bug does NOT occur if I double click a song on my computer and then control everything from my phone. If, however, I open up my phone and select my computer as a remote device and then begin to play music via the phone, the error occurs.

I split my big play list into 6 smaller play lists and it has improved a
bit. Of course we are using our guts but I am still convinced the spotify
shuffle code is flawed.

I have a playlist with about 2,000 songs and it only shuffles the most recent ~100 or so. The same set of songs gets old! Please fix this. This is not resolved. This impacts all of my devices, so I don't believe it is an app issue.

That's what I'm considering doing but I'm sure this doesn't happen on
imusic. Sometimes a track will be repeated on a single session though
thankfully this is rare. However there must be a way for Spotify to rectify
this surely but they never seem to take any notice.

Its weird, they advertise that they use AI, but this bug certainly doesn't need AI. It's a very easy problem to solve. Say you have 3000 songs.

1. play a song randomly

2. Mark that song as haven been played

3. play next song randomly from the group of songs (2999) that have not been marked as haven been played.

4. repeat

5. After all 3000 songs have been played, unmark all songs and repeat.

How come spotify who brings in hundreds of millions of $ a month revenue can fix this after saying they fixed it in 2016!

This issue IS NOT fixed.  Come on Spotify, this isn't a complicated algorithm.  If this doesn't change soon I'm leaving you.

Fix shuffle already! It's broken!

How hard is it to play ALL songs in a random order when i press shuffle? I keep getting the first ~100 songs.

I'm seriously considering switching to Tidal.

Me001

NOT fixed. Time to move elsewhere. Deezer?

For such a big company, this is staggeringly incompetent. Any CS fresher could write you a shuffling algorithm in half an hour.

I have only been using Spotify Premium for the last nine months, through Spotify Connect and I noticed the problem right away. It is still a problem and needs to be addressed. This is the only streaming platform that I use. What are other platforms that you are using where the problem doesn't occur? I would gladly switch.
