Connect only plays 100 song chunks of playlists

Description:

When I play music over connect the remote computer only seems to have access to the 100 subsequent songs from the song I start playing from. For example, if have a playlist of songs from 1:200 and start playing song 1, then press the previous song button instead of playing song 200 it plays song 100. Subsequent presses of the previous song button play tracks 99,98,97... etc. The same issue appears to occur if I have shuffle turned on.

  1. Play music over spotify connect

Workaround:

 N/A

 

Additional information:

 Occurs both with computer to computer play as well as phone to computer play.

 Only occurs when the playlist is started on the "remote" device. For example, if I want to control my computer via my phone, the bug does NOT occur if I double click a song on my computer and then control everything from my phone. If, however, I open up my phone and select my computer as a remote device and then begin to play music via the phone, the error occurs.

When trying to cycle through my liked songs, roughly only the top 100 songs are played on shuffle. Even when trying to just listen without shuffle and mixing up by sorting on titles, I cannot seem to find a workaround. I see this as fixed above but I can vouch for it not being fixed.

So it is the end of 2020. 04.05.2018 i wrote my first "ticket" on this topic and nothing has changed. I am sick of it. I am genuienly one Step away of switching to Apple music. Its not your Music, quality, diversity of genere and artists, no ITS THE F***** SHUFFLE. I will not micromanage the everliving s*** out of my playlist.

This is a joke, it isn't fixed since 2016. You are having the same issues over and over since then, it's not only on connect but it's simply that shuffle doesn't work, period. 

 

I'm using now the free version and Google music.

I had the same thought for months and then I switched to Apple Music, believe it or not they are mastering a very advanced technology called shuffle....

I can not believe (yes I can) that after almost 5 years now this problem still exists.  In my case I see that it 'shuffles' the first 10 songs of a 120 spotify generated playlist.  I don't recall this being the case for me until about 3 months ago.  Desktop app, macos.

Had quite a bit of time off over the holidays and got to play a lot of music over Spotify Connect in shuffle mode. Wish they would address this issue. Same songs repeating over and over again.

I understand the pain, I waited for three years thinking that Spotify will be able to pay some talented software engineer to solve this and then I found a solution : I switched to another steaming provider. BTW , if you are concerned about your patiently hand crafted playlist, don’t! I found a free service called SongShift which is doing a very nice job

Yep - I use song shift often. I also work around the shuffle issue by changing the sort order and then just the tracks in that order. It ‘aint great but it’s somethin’.
