Constant Waze Pop-up

Plan - Premium

Country - US

Device - Google Pixel 2

Operating System - Android 9

Spotify version - 8.4.89.515

I just installed a clean version of Spotify because my downloaded songs were no longer available offline. Now everytime I open Spotify in my car it tries to connect to Waze via a banner at the top. To be clear, I do not even have the Waze app installed on my phone. Furthermore, I have unchecked the box allowing Waze integration in my Spotify settings. The pop-up returns anytime I navigate to a new playlist or home screens despite the Waze integration box not being checked and Waze not being installed on my phone and me going through the prompts to turn Waze off. This seems like a glitch.

Hey folks,

We're happy to say that this should now be fixed for you!

Please make sure you've updated your app, and perform a clean reinstall if necessary.

Thanks for your patience on this! Stay awesome 🙂

As another person mentioned, if you turn off car mode it will make the pop up go away as a work around. I don't think they will be removing the waze banner. I actually looked into their terms of service and it clearly states they can give you ads even if you have a paid subscription. For this reason I will be canceling.

Spotify has done it again. With the latest update the irritating Waze banner is back. I have Waze switched off in Spotify but I have had the banner asking me if I want to switch on Waze pop up three times alteady this week.

C'mon guys. A hard sell is unnecessary. I don't want Waze period.

Hey there folks,

There should be a new version of Spotify available currently.

You can enable automatic updates to make sure you're on that latest version. You can also try a quick reinstall of the app by following the steps here.

Let us know how if the issue persists after reinstalling 🙂

Problem solved for me, Spotify version 8.4.92.949

Thanks!

This happens to me but whenI hit the X it asks if I want to turn off waze. Huh? I never installed waze in the first place. Given this is a blue popup it is basically advertizing for waze, where I have premium for no ads. I don't want waze because they collect information on you. This popup is poor UX because of how jarring it is.

This isn't the first time this happened either. Also when I started typing I got a feedback popup that took me to a new tab and wiped my comment. Spotify is great but yall get some super buggy code sometimes.

Not to mention, you have to dismiss the banner AND the full-screen popup. I also don't have Waze and the setting is turned off. So annoying!

Be careful on this too, dismissing (cancel) will leave it enabled. On the full screen you have to turn it off. So this feature is actually getting turned on and the banner is asking to turn it off. Can spotify just kill the feature it is highly intrusive and doesn't work right even 2 years later. This is a recurring problem.

Not fixed. I did a reinstall and it still pops up. The play store says last updated feb 6 which is about when this started happening.

Fixed for me. Turned car mode back on and there was one more pop up. Turned it off one last time and haven't seen it since.
