Constant Waze Pop-up

Plan - Premium

Country - US

Device - Google Pixel 2

Operating System - Android 9

Spotify version - 8.4.89.515

I just installed a clean version of Spotify because my downloaded songs were no longer available offline. Now everytime I open Spotify in my car it tries to connect to Waze via a banner at the top. To be clear, I do not even have the Waze app installed on my phone. Furthermore, I have unchecked the box allowing Waze integration in my Spotify settings. The pop-up returns anytime I navigate to a new playlist or home screens despite the Waze integration box not being checked and Waze not being installed on my phone and me going through the prompts to turn Waze off. This seems like a glitch.

Hey folks,

We're happy to say that this should now be fixed for you!

Please make sure you've updated your app, and perform a clean reinstall if necessary.

Thanks for your patience on this! Stay awesome 🙂

Pixel 2, no Waze app installed, exact same issue. If this keeps up, I'm cancelling my premium family subscription and moving over to YouTube music instead. It is really that annoying, distracting, and dangerous. Spotify needs to do something about this ASAP. Waze sucks in comparison to Google maps anyway.

Listen, we know Waze is your new partner in crime so this simple programming issue can be solved with an update. Some of us don't like Waze, deal with it. We want a tech to answer this,  not a work from home customer service rep.

Same thing here on up to date Google Pixel 2. Praying for a fix. Super annoying and dangerously distracting me and other drivers.

This happens to me too. I don't have a car, I don't have Waze. P20 lite. IMG_20190128_195418.jpg

This banner is unacceptable. I don't have Waze installed, I don't want it and I have shut off the toggle in the settings for Waze integration.

Unfortunately, the only fix so far is to actually install Waze. If you decide to do so, the steps are as follows to remove the banner. After following these steps, try uninstalling Waze to stop the banner.

  1. Install Waze
  2. Open Spotify
  3. Go to Your Library and click the cog icon on the top right for Settings
  4. Scroll down to Waze navigation ‘Enable the Waze integration’ - iOS Waze settings are in social section pane
  5. Turn this off to disable the Waze integration

I would recommend not installing Waze just to get the issue sorted. That
sort of effort should not be required from paying customers. It also gives
Spotify no incentive to fix the underlying issue. In fact, it may be a ploy
to get you to install it, especially if they get paid by Waze.

On my phone the waze banner pops up every time spotify is connected to my car.
