Created a username but got numbers and letters

So I created a Spotify account for my little brother and it asked for a username. I created one for him but instead of it appeared a combination of numbers and letters. Is there any way to change this?

Hey No I didnt use Facebook to create his account and the username I choose wa Theisolsen but he hot a name like this example 2qt4ye52hf i cant remember it but it was like that example

It happened to me also. I created an account for my mom, I chose her name to be displayed, but instead it's just a bunch of random numbers and letters. 

Is there any way to make it display the correct name?

@Jose_M  I'm aware that you can link your Spotify with Facebook. But my mom doesn't have one, nor wants to use it. Her Spotify account was never linked to Facebook and was created via email. 

She just wants her displayed name be the same as the one delivered while registering. Why would you ask for a preferred name and then instead of it use just random letters and numbers?

I am fully aware that, under no circumstances, I may edit my username or display name. That's not what I'm on about.

However, according to Spotify's own website: "You can create a custom display name that replaces the username where it shows on your profile, app, playlists, and Friend Activity."

After significant research and experimenting, emailing support and asking on reddit, this does not appear to be a true statement.

Is there a secret setting somewhere to activate and use my display name? I'm not trying to change it, just USE the name that I entered into the "what should we call you" box.

Crazy as it may sound, I'm not going to keep paying for an app that calls me a random string of numbers and letters instead of the name that I instructed it to. That's an extremely basic functionality that essentially all apps and websites have.

If this is a functionality that has been discontinued, you need to disclaim that on your site instead of lying about it.

You can connect your Spotify account to your Facebook account, and then your FB name will be displayed on your Spotify. Take a look at this following article and get more info about it:

I don't have facebook. The display name, which is defined as the name you enter when creating account when it asks "what should we call you?", is what I would like to use.

It sounds like this might be an issue that Spotify's tech teams are looking into. To confirm if that's the case, can you let me know which device you used to create your accounts?

On another note, you can always start over with a new account following the steps in this Spotify Answer. Just make sure to use a different device than the one you used before.
