[Desktop] Liked Songs not playing in the right order

When I go to my liked songs playlist and sort it by title, it does not play in this order. Not only that it does not even have the songs that play on the playlist. The songs say they are liked, but they are not included in the playlist. Why is this? I want to go through all the songs I have liked because I have had spotify for 4-5 years now and want to clean up my library. This issue is making it very hard.

Hey there folks,

We really appreciate reporting this and providing us all this info.

We've passed this all to our developers who are investigating this.

As a heads up, we’re not able to confirm if or when your specific request will be resolved.

However, we'd recommend keeping your Spotify app up to date to guarantee you’re rocking all the latest features and fixes.

Thanks again!

OS: Windows 10

Spotify Version:

In the Liked Songs section of Your Library, songs are showing up in the wrong order when sorting by title. So far, I've only found this problem occuring with the songs that start with numbers, as seen in the first screenshot. The songs play in their correct order but they are not visually correct.

Also, songs that start with the word 'The' are being sorted by the first letter of the second word of the song, but they are being queued up with other 'T' songs.

Hey, @infinite_ginger
Welcome to Spotify Community and thanks for reaching out here!

Could you check if the issue persists in all of your devices (desktop/TV/game console)? Also, could you try a fast reinstallation of the app on your device?

If you have any other further questions or need more help, let me know! I'd love to help!

Best Regards,

Hey there,

Thanks for reporting this!

Just to confirm, does the issue persist after a clean reinstallation of the app with these steps

If you're experiencing this, make sure to add your +VOTE and details below so we can get this reported with the right teams:

  • Your device and its OS (operating system) version
  • The exact version of the Spotify app
  • Any screenshots of what's happening would be helpful

We'll be keeping an eye out for your replies, thanks!

Hey there @Jollof,

Thanks again for reporting this.

It looks like the screenshot you mention is missing from your post - could you give it another try?

Further, it'd would be helpful if you could let us know if the issue persists after a thorough reinstallation of the app and on a different device.

Keep us posted 🙂

Hi @Katerina

I've updated the post with the screenshot. I tried on a different computer (also Windows 10, version and the situation persists. I'll keep you updated on if a clean install fixes the issue when I get the time.

I am playing my "Liked Songs" in my library on my desktop app. I don't have shuffle on and it appears to be shuffling. I just want it to let me play straight through, like it did before but it's not.

Hi there!

I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? If that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstall of the app. Just follow these steps.

Also, make sure to have the Next Up in Qeueu clear, you can clear it with a click of a button in there 🙂

If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?

I'll see what I can suggest next!

Hey @Jollof,

Thanks for keeping us posted.

It seems that, when sorting Liked Songs, Spotify takes into account not just the first digit, but all the following ones.

For example, if songs with numerical titles used to be sorted by the first digit:

  • 1000 Nights
  • 20K
  • 4AM
  • 8TEEN

they will now be sorted as follows, taking into account the whole number:

  • 4AM
  • 8TEEN
  • 20K
  • 1000 Nights

If you preferred the old way of sorting songs, you can always create an idea about it here.

With regard to your second issue report, this is being looked into, but there's currently no timeline for a fix - you can read more about it in this thread.

With the above in mind, we've moved this thread back to the help boards.

Let us know if there's anything else we can help with!

Stay awesome 🙂

Thanks for the clarification Peter. However, it’s more than just preference. As stated in my post, it seems that the queue is still using the old sorting system while being displayed in this new format.

We are going to look into this issue and will get back to you as soon as we have more info.

Regarding artists that start with 'The' being sorted between Artists which name starts with a 'T', we recommend creating an idea in the Ideas Exchange.
