[Desktop] Not able to reinstall the original app / download the microsoft app

Status: Closed

I was using the original app and after a restart i had to use the one from the microsoft store.

Because it was kind of different and uncomfortable i uninstalled it and tried reinstalling the normal app.

Now it says windows found a already installed version of spotify so i cant install it.

Even if i try using the microsoft app again it stops downloading at 1,67mb.

Hey @Tringo0011! Thanks for letting me know about this.

Let's try a complete reinstall of the Spotify app. Here's how:

  • Log out of Spotify and then close the program.
  • Uninstall
  • Browse to the cache and delete everything inside the folder. The default location should be:
    C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\Spotify\Storage
  • Delete also the folder:
    C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\Spotify\Users\
  • Restart your PC.
  • Reinstall the app from here.

Let me know how you get on! 🙂

Have a great day!

Tringo0011

Thanks for the reply!

Sadly it didn't help 😞

Uninstalling is not available considering i already did that and it doesnt show up in the lists.

And the folders are also nowhere to be found. Only things i found whas in temp data and i cant delete these.

JuanSebastian

Thanks for trying @Tringo0011.

Can you send us a screenshot of the folder C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\Spotify\Storage?

Also, try reinstalling the app using the Safe Mode on Windows to see this makes any difference. You can read how to do so here.

Keep us posted.
