My Question or Issue

Dear Spotify Team,
After automatic update of Desktop version of Spotify, the "Recently Played" subsection has disappeared from Home section.
Before update the Home section used to start with "Recently Played", "Made for..." and then the other suggestions.
Now the Home sections starts with show suggestions, but "Recently Played" subsection is nowhere to be found. I did check the whole menu.
If your advise is the Queue/History section - it's not the same as it simply shows the list of all played songs in the row.  "Recently Played" subsection used to show all recently played playlists even those not saved in Library.
Please advise.

Hey folks,

Thanks for your patience while we looked into this issue.

We’re happy to say that this should now be fixed for everyone! Just make sure your app is updated to the latest version.

If you're still having trouble, make sure to post a new thread in the relevant help board here.

Thanks!

I hope this is not intentional because why on earth would you get rid of that?

Missing and absolutely needs to be brought back. It doesn’t matter where I login (Windows, MAC OS or web) it’s completely gone. It was the main feature I used.

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out with this one.

We have some exciting news to share! The new "Recently Played" section is rolling out to the mobile app in the home tab. Here you will be able to see up to 3 months of listening history. Look for the clock icon in the top right corner of the home tab. You can read more info about this and other updates to the home tab in the news article:
New Features on Spotify’s Home Hub Make Navigation and Discovery Even Simpler

Hope this shines a bit of light on the matter. We'll be here if you have any other questions.

eldris
No, it doesn’t. That is individual tracks. What has been removed on the
DESKTOP app is the Recently Played section, which had recently played
albums/playlists/radio.

Hey @eldris,

Thanks for posting and apologies for the misunderstanding.

Just to confirm, have you tried a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on your device? These changes tend to solve issues like the one you're experiencing, as it removes any possible damaged files and installs the most recent version of the app.

If that doesn't fix thing, could you share a couple of screenshots of how the Home section appears at your end?

Keep us posted. We'd love to investigate this further.

Comments like "reinstall Spotify" are really counterproductive. This comes across as "Spotify engineering doesn't know how to update an application that they have been updating for many years".

Should we start a donation fund to send Spotify engineers to engineering school?

Hello. I actually did try to follow your advice with clean reinstall. Nothing's changed.
The Home section in the Desktop Spotify app (and in Web version) starts with "Shows to try", "Made for...", "More of what you like", etc..
But "Recently Played" subsection is nowhere to be found.
The history in the Queue section (by clicking the Queue button in the lower right corner) shows all played songs in the row without actual playlists.
What's missing from Home section: "Recently Played" subsection with recently played
playlists/albums/song radio playlists that are not saved in the library.
P.S. for obvious privacy reasons I will not include any screenshots 🙂

Hi there @AbsolutelyNoFB and @Clairicious,

Thank you for your replies.

If you still don't see it after you performed a clean reinstall of the app, can you log in on another device to see if the issue persists?

We'll keep an eye out for your replies.

Take care!

Clairicious

Tried using Spotify Desktop app on another PC. Still no "Recently played" in Home section.
