[Desktop] Scroll position not saved when navigating through pages

Hey folks,

We're receiving reports from users that navigating back and forth through the desktop app no longer returns them to the point on the page they were previously on. If they're halfway down a page and try navigating forward a page, returning to the previous page will put them to the top of the page instead of the point they were at.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your updates and for your patience while we looked into this issue!

We can confirm that our teams have rolled out a fix to improve the experience reported. Make sure your app is updated to the latest version.

Note that any click on a link or side menu item is consider a 'forward' navigation in the client and the scroll position will not be restored in that case. We only restore scroll position when navigating 'backward' using the navigation buttons at the top or a keyboard shortcut.

@Supreme_God exactly! I commented on this as well. This is a complete disaster. How could they remove this function? It's an absolutely basic navigation feature...

Keeping the highlighted song after clearing a filter (like @brian mentioned) is a must have when you have playlists with a couple hundred songs imo

This issue I think is also tied to updated Search process. Clicking on the "Search" button on the left takes you to a new page/navigates you away from where you were at previously.

Please vote on this idea if you also think the updated search function is part of the issue in THIS idea too:

As someone with a massive Spotify library who enjoys adding songs to queue, the requirement to continuously scroll makes the app nearly unusable for me. Please fix 😞

@Ivanit appears that merging this thread with your comment has actually removed all the votes that the first comment, the initial idea had can this be fixed as i'm genuinely sick of this brain dead oversight.

spv99

Definitely needs to be fixed.

Also, when the album list reloads, not only does it go back to the top, but it only loads part of the list and I have to scroll down repeatedly to get albums lower down the list. Only started happening for me in the last week or two when the latest update landed.

Windows 10 app. Spotify version 1.1.58.820.g2ae50076-a.

Definitely experiencing the exact same issue as spv99 above me with the album list, having to reload all of the albums again and again is extremely annoying.

Using Spotify in The Netherlands on macOS Catalina (10.15.7), Spotify version 1.1.58.820.g2ae50076-a

Yeah this is a pretty big downgrade. The UI upgrade does many things right, searching via ctrl+l was slow and buggy before and now it works much better, so thanks for the effort. But not remembering scroll positions practically everywhere is rather annoying and even modifies the way I go through my library. I like looking at my library via Albums sorted by recently added, I have some 1000+ Albums in there and having to buffer scroll through a lot of them and then clicking on an album to take a look only to be surprised with the beginning of the list when I go back is bad, and ruins that experience.

This makes spotify virtually unusable for me. I want to add multiple songs from the bottom of my albums list to a playlist, of which i have hundreds, so i'm expected to scroll all the way down HUNDREDS of times? What the **bleep**??????
