[Desktop] Spotify won't resume after pause with bluetooth headphones

I'm unable to resume after i pause the music for a few minutes with my headphones over bluetooth.

We're not able to provide an exact timeline for a fix, but we'd recommend always keeping your Spotify app and all devices fully up-to-date.

Is this ever going to be resolved? I've been doing the occasional search throughout the years trying to find a solution and time and time again did I stumble upon the same unresolved threads. It's the first time that I've actually stumbled upon this one, and I was hopeful to see "the right folks are looking into this". Immediately lost hope seeing that was posted back in 2017. That's pretty embarrassing.

 

As a professional listening to Spotify every day, yes using Bluetooth speakers, I run into this issue at least once every few days, sometimes more sometimes less. While a minor nuisance it is such a frustrating issue and in my opinion unacceptable that I have to fix it by restarting Spotify. I just tested above poster's suggestion (as the problem YET AGAIN occurred) and it actually works ("For me what helps is turning the bluetooth headset off and then back on"). This is definitely an improvement from the previous fix which meant restarting the app. At our company almost everyone uses Spotify and just bringing this topic up makes everyone cringe.

Still experiencing this almost daily. Macbook Pro 13" 2018, Beats Studio 3 Wireless. I have to restart either Spotify or headphones to resolve. Very annoying and longstanding issue, please prioritize this over adding new features.

Several years later and this is still an issue. Are the Spotify devs really that incapable?

I have this issue and I can't believe it's still not been fixed for over 2 years. I have only had this issue in the last 2 months.

 

Issue occurs when music is paused for over 2 or 3 minutes. It will only commence playing if I disconnect and reconnect the earphones or restart the Spotify Mac app.

 

Other system sounds still play through my earphones - this is solely an issue with Spotify.

 

I'm running Spotify 1.1.31.703.g256add22

MacBook Pro 2016 15inch running 10.15.4 (19E287) / iMac 2019 27inch running 10.15.4 (19E287) (issue occurs on both)

Apple AirPod Pro earphones.

I have the same problem, how long I need to stop music on Spotify varies, anything from around 10 mins onwards causes the error. I listen to music nearly all day every day when working, so this issue occurs at least 2 or 3 times a day. I have had the issue for as long as I can remember with several different sets of bluetooth headphones. It's Incredibly frustrating: 

 

  • Device - MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)

i have same problem. in the beginning it works if you switch to other player ( i am mostly on beatport pro desktop version) after you come back spotify says can't play current damn song. if you restart it works again till you switch audio source.

I have to restart my spotify application several times per day because of this bug. I pay for spotify and I kind of expect a better quality program

I am experiencing this as well. I frequently try to resume playback, only to see "Can't play the current song".

 

Device: MacBook Pro 13 inch (2019)

OS: macOS Catalina 10.15.4

Headphones: Mostly Bost QC 35 II
