[Desktop] Spotify won't resume after pause with bluetooth headphones

I'm unable to resume after i pause the music for a few minutes with my headphones over bluetooth.

Hey everyone,

Thank you for reporting this issue to us.

We just wanted to let you know that the right folks are looking into this.

We're not able to provide an exact timeline for a fix, but we'd recommend always keeping your Spotify app and all devices fully up-to-date.

Thanks!

Adding my answer to this long-ongoing thread.

Same issue has happened for more than 6 months. It's become part of my expectations of using Spotify: new listening sessions always start with ⌘ + Q, then a new start of the Spotify app. I wonder if Spotify engineers themselves are affected by this, since I assume many are likely to have the same setup as we do in this thread. I guess they don't, or there would be more urgency in fixing this issue.

Macbook pro 15' 2020, version 1.1.29.592.gf0779179, seems related to using bluetooth headphones. Mac OS 10.14.6 (18G3020)

Hi,
I'm experiencing the same issue 🙂
I asked in my office and many people have the same problem.
We mainly use Bose QC 35 II.
Thanks!

annoying long-ongoing thread

embarrassing issue

The same issue has happened for more than 3-4 months. Every usage of Spotify starts with annoying 2-3 extra steps: new listening session always begins with ⌘ + Q, then a new start of the Spotify app.

Pls fix the issue.

I have had this problem for more than a YEAR. Amazed how the Spotify team didn't found out earlier (even with continuous heads ups from the community), do they even use the app????!!

Same issue, happens with both Airpods 2.0 and Edifier R1700BT bluetooth speakers.

MacBook Pro Retina 13 inch, Early 2015 running 10.15.4 Catalina on latest Spotify version (tried clean reinstall)

Thanks to Herzog, I've found an easy fix. On your device, simply disable then re-enable the BT link to your headphones/speakers. Playback picks up right from where it left off.

Version 1.1.30.658, still nothing is fixed.

I don't know much about bluetooth api, haven't done any integration with it, but I honestly have no idea what kind of dirty hacks did spotify use. Shouldn't spotify app simply connect to whatever Macbook audio source is connected to? Like literally any other application on macbook does playback.

As I said before, I haven't worked myself with BT before, but this seems incredibly weird, that the ongoing issue is opened since 2017 and nothing has been done for over 3 years.

I can’t believe how people tolerate this.

how the heck has this issue not been even attempted to be fixed?

Been having this issue for months.

I literally expect to have to close and reopen Spotify anytime I want to start a new listening session. Ridiculous

For me what helps is turning the bluetooth headset off and then back on.
