Family invite: Email must be in lower case

Status: Not An Issue
0 Likes

When inviting a family member the provided email must be in lower case or else it just gives an error stating that the email is not in the correct format.

But the expected format (lower case in this case) is not provided

Hey @GibSral!

We've confirmed this is expected behaviour. However, we'll pass your feedback on to the right folks about this.

If anything else comes up, don't hesitate to open a new thread.

Cheers.

Hey @GibSral

That's odd. If you try from a diffent device like a desktop computer, does it make any difference? You can also try a different internet connection.

Let us know if that helps 🙂

Hi,
i tried it on different computers on different internet connections and on
different browsers.
I took a look at the page (https://www.spotify.com/de/family/invite) with
the chrome dev tools:
pattern="[a-z0-9!#$%&'*+/=?^_`{|}~-]+(?:\.[a-z0-9!#$%&'*+/=?
^_`{|}~-]+)*@(?:[a-z0-9](?:[a-z0-9-]*[a-z0-9])?\.)+[a-z0-9](
?:[a-z0-9-]*[a-z0-9])?"

As you can see, the regex only supports lower case email addresses (no
upper cases in the classes [a-z0-9]), but there is no hint on the site that
tells the user to use lower case email addresses exclusively.
As i am a developer i tend to use CamelCase even for email addresses and so
i failed several times to send an invitation with the site only telling me
that the email is not in the correct format 🙂

Best regards
Lars
