Firewall Error Code

Status: Closed
0 Likes

I posted this earlier this year, but never responded back to it.

Screen Shot 2017-10-12 at 8.36.19 PM.pngI have a Mac, & I ended up getting my computer wiped of all the virsues. Spotify logged me out, and thus began saying that I had a problem with my firewall or my proxy.

I did all that I could to get Spotify working again, but it won't move past this screen. I uninstalled it, deleted it from my files, etc, & it has done absolutely nothing.

I would appreciate some help in getting it working on my computer again.

Hey @SaraEmily12! Welcome to the Spotify Community!

Thanks for letting me know about this. Could you make sure your anti-virus software/firewall has exceptions for Spotify? Also, are you on a restricted network connection (school or workplace) that could interfere with Spotify? Let me know! 🙂

Have a great day!

SaraEmily12

I specifically changed my firewall & my antivirus software to allow Spotify to work. Nothing is blocking the program, & yet it fails to work. And, no; I use Spotify on my laptop from home and that connection is not a private one. I don't understand why it's still acting up when I've done almost all that I can to fix it.

Thanks for the info!

Could you let us know what device, operating system, and Spotify version you're using? We'd recommend reinstalling the app by following the steps here.

Also, it would be great if you restart your router and give it a go again.

Let us know how it goes 🙂

SaraEmily12

I'm on a Macbook, not sure what version, with an update pending for an iOS software. I've held off on installing it because usually, the updates are poor when first released, and I don't have the time to suffer with a glitchy laptop.

But, I will follow the directions provided and comment back on if it works or not.

SaraEmily12

I followed the directions down to a letter. It didn't work.

Thanks for letting us know, @SaraEmily12!

Could you try clicking on the "proxy settings" hyperlink message located in the error code you're getting? Once you've done it, click on the first box you see and select "No Proxy" or "Auto Detect". The app will prompt you to log in after that.

Let us know if it helps 🙂

SaraEmily12

That doesn't work either. It keeps showing me the same message.

Hey @SaraEmily12!

Let's try the following:
  1. Uninstall Spotify from your computer.
  2. Restart your Mac.
  3. Download this old installer for Mac and install it.
  4. Open the old version.
  5. Sign in and then update the Spotify app.

Let us know if this works for you.
