My Question or Issue

Had my watch for about a week now and I was able to connect via remote to my phone and scroll through my playlists and recently played, but today it seems to have a problem connecting.

When I open the app on the watch it says "can not connect to Spotify on your phone. please open the app there to continue". once I tap to the watch I get to the playback setting menu (choosing between remote and stream on wifi) and cant get anywhere else.

My watch is connected via Bluetooth and the app is open on my phone and I still get the message.

Tried disconnecting my watch and phone and reconnecting, turning the watch off and on again, deleting the app from my watch and reinstalling - none of these worked.

Anyone know how to fix this issue?

Hey all,

Issue should be solved now. Keep you apps up to date and try to log in again.

If you can't find the app in the Galaxy Store, be sure to check out this Ongoing Issue.

Have a nice day!

The app works and connects for me 100% of the time on the watch. The only thing for me is after a little while of the watch being inactive the app disconnects from the phone and has to reconnect.

That gear app update maybe fixed S3 or whatever. That Spotify watch update still did not come to Gear fit 2. Its stıll version 1.1.24 on Gear Fit 2. PLEASE HELP, ITS ANNOYING FOR MONTHS.

It is not fixed for Gear Fit 2 (pro) Users! Please update the App for us. Remote function is NOT working. We still are on Version 1.1.24

The Samsung replies here are always the same delay tactics. So many users over 7 months have same issue and still not fixed. Samsung-fail

Thought id comment if it could help anyone, but after having the same error ( "can not connect to Spotify on your phone. please open the app there to continue". ) whilst switching from standalone to remote and not finding any solutions i found one my self. I noticed while my Watch tried connecting, the gps symbol on my phone appeared for like a milisecond. And i enabled locations (gps and wifi) on my watch and it worked instantly.

On a Galaxy Watch 2 Active I had the same issue of not being able to connect to my phone to use it as a remote.

After trying to log in en pair my phone with a code to my account (which only fixed standalone mode), I removed the Spotify app from my Galaxy Watch.

After re-installing the app the remote functionality worked instantly. Happy user as I am now able to control the music on my headphones through my watch!
