My Question or Issue

Garmin Zumo 595 connection to Spotify on my OnePlus 3T was working well with Spotify 8.4.77.779.

Since last Spotify update, connection always fails.

I reinstalled old Spotify 8.4.77.779 and it works with this version.

But not with last Spotify version.

Does anybody has the same issue ?

Right now, we're not able to provide an exact timeline for a complete fix, but we'd recommend always keeping your Spotify app up to date, along with your device software, to ensure you have the latest features and fixes.

I got a reply from Garmin:

 

"There is a incident reported in the Garmin Central about it.

 

Our collegues from the Central are working to resolve the issue"

 Mr_Jones, as you may have already seen, if you roll back to Spotify version 8.4.77.779, then it will work with your Zumo again.
Remember to stop auto-updates for Spotify on your phone though.

Garmin are indeed aware - however, the problem ultimately lies with Spotify as it's their updates that have caused this problem.

I raised this issue with Spotify and given the response I received, I don't expect a proper solution anytime soon.
Also, this thread has been active a while now and no Spotify representative has commented.

Same problem here! 

Been reading this thread for a while. To bad that Spotify doesn't respond at all. Do they even read this? I can't emagine they dont want a fix for this issue. Please spotify, comment!

Hey all,

 

We've received reports from users that the connection is lost after upgrading to the most recent version of Spotify. If you are experiencing this, please make sure that:

 

  1. You have the newest firmware installed on your Garmin Zumo
  2. You have tried a reinstallation of Spotify

If it's still not working, please let us know the following:

 

  • Which Garmin Zumo you have
  • A Spotify version that works and a Spotify version that does not work
  • Which firmware you have installed on your Garmin device
  • Which device and OS you are using on your mobile device 

We will investigate further and keep you up to date here.

Thank you for responding! 

 

The latest firmware are installed on my Garmin. And like you asked, I reinstalled the Spotify app on my phone. Its not possible to reinstall the app on the Garmin, only the updates on Garmin express are avalible. They are all installed. The connection is still failing.

 

Garmin Zumo 595, firmware version: 4.40

Spotify version: 8.4.92.949

Samsung S8, android version 8.0.0

 

In previous comments you can find what Spotify versions does work due to other users findings. I didn't try to go back to an olders version. But last year the spotify connection with my Garmin worked fine.

 

I hope we give you enough information for now.  Let us know whene you want to know more.

Hello Giudo, thank you for your response.

I can confirm my Garmin Zumo 595 is fully up to date; the attached photo will verify this.

 

Yes, I have reinstalled Spotify on my phone; more than once.
We are unable to uninstall & reinstall on the Garmin.

Spotify version 8.4.90.722 does NOT work.

 

Spotify version 8.4.77.779 DOES work.
I am aware there are multiple updates between the above two - I was not inclined to work through them all!

Garmin software version 4.50
Garmin GPS firmware 3.05.20
Garmin Bluetooth firmware 3.0.11 P32

Motorola G6 Plus.
Android 8.0.0

If you are experiencing issues with the connection when using Spotify on your Garmin Zumo device, make sure to +VOTE so you can stay up to speed on any updates we have for you.

 

 Please also make sure that: 

  1. You have the newest firmware installed on your Garmin Zumo
  2. You have tried a reinstallation of Spotify

It'd be also helpful if you could leave a comment, if you haven't already with this info:

  • Your Garmin Zumo device
  • The firmware version you have installed on your Garmin device
  • Your current Spotify version
  • Your mobile device and its OS version
  • Any screenshots of what you see when this occurs (just make sure that no sensitive/private info is displayed)

There's currently a newer version of the Spotify app available. Just to confirm, could you try updating your app to that latest version?

 

If that doesn't do the trick, let us know, along with the version of the app you've ended up with and we'll make sure to pass this on to our tech teams 🙂

Hello Katerina,

There are in fact many newer versions since the 8.4.77.779 which we know works.
So I tried updating my app to the latest version.
This appears to be 8.4.94.817.
And it doesn't work - the problem remains.

I've checkt it aswell and its the same as hobbington discribed at my end.
