High data usage offline playlist

Hi. Yesterday I noticed high data consumption while using offline playlists. I see that this problem is old but stil not resolved. I'm using lastest IOS 10.2 and lastest version of app 6.8.0.3786. Could you please verify?

Hey guys,

After the most recent Spotify update on iOS, we've seen reports that this should now have been fixed. For the time being, we're moving this one over to 'Fixed'.

If you're still experiencing any trouble, a reinstall of the app should help. Let us know if there's any more issues regarding this and we'll investigate this further.

Thanks!

Hi @hrelinho! Thanks for writing on the Community.

Can you let us know when did this start happening? Was it after a specific update or event? Also, can you make sure to have the Offline Mode enabled when playing your offline playlists?

Keep us posted.

hrelinho

It started to happen with last update of spotify. I'm using iphone 7 256gb version with lastest ios 10.2.

I can enable offline mode but i dont want to do this every time I use app that i pay for every month. Here in Brazil we dont have good coverage of 3g/4g in every place so we use offline playlists a lot.

Edit: forgot to mention that i have last version of spotify app.

We understand.

In this case, can you check if Download Using Cellular is turned on in the Spotify app?

You can take a look at this in Settings > Streaming Quality > Download Using Cellular.

If this option its turned on, you can turn off mobile data for Spotify if you do not want to use any mobile data while using the app. Just head to Settings > Spotify > Mobile Data.

Let us know how it goes.

hrelinho

The option is turned off.

MonicaM_Bogota

Thanks for checking.

In this case, please follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your account page on our website and click Offline devices in the menu on the left.
  2. Click REMOVE ALL DEVICES.
  3. Reinstall the app with the steps here.
  4. Save your offline tracks again.

Let us know if it helps.

I did all that and it didnt resolve the issue!

Thanks for trying @hrelinho!

Could you send us a screenshot of how much data Spotify has used lately? You can find this info in Settings > Mobile Data.

Also, could you let us know how many songs/playlists do you have synced for offline listening and how much time you spend every day listening in Offline Mode (estimate)?

Keep us posted.

hrelinho

Look at ss. I played 1 music that was downloaded. I have 26 playlists and 28 albums downloaded (all in extreme quality). I noticed also that when i use spotify offline, the queue doesnt work. I listen to spotify 2 hour per day.

Thanks for this info, @hrelinho!

Could you scroll down and send us a screenshot of the last time you've reset your statistics?

Keep us on the loop.
