guys guys guys I had this problem and identified my issue to be linked to VPN.

Turned off VPN and this problem was fixed.

Turning off VPN is not a fix, its a troubleshooting step. I think most people would rather cancel Spotify than turn off security features to make their product actually function properly. VPN has been used fine up to very recently so again, that is not a VPN issue it is a Spotify issue. Not sure what you are talking about tbh.

Could you try reinstalling Spotify in Safe Mode with Networking and check if the issue would still occur? If so, try out Method 3 from this Microsoft Answer to see if that does the trick for you.

I still cannot play songs without stopping and starting my VPN which is unacceptable. My VPN client had no updates during the time it was working fine and not at all unless in playlist, so it has to be an error on your client. I am paying for this client and it is barely fit for purpose at the present time for me. Can we apply for monthly refunds until we can play songs like you advertise?

Im also in your situation for over a year, and i get your frustration, but everything will be fixed. I think they can't assume every situation, they are humans after all. Don't get me wrong but: wth? You are fighting with this with for more than a year? Even if Spotify has MILLIONS of dollars of budget to fix this? I can't understand this tbh. I am thinking about canceling that service after 2 months already because of it! But also because Spotify helps destroying the German language with so called "Gender-Gaga"!

My Question or Issue

My desktop app suddenly will only play songs that are on my playlists. I can play a song that is on a play list like normal but if I go to the artist's page or the album and try to play the same song directly from there the song won't play, the album art won't load, and the song duration won't come up on the bottom bar. You can see in the screen shot what it looks like when I try to play a song from anywhere other than a playlist. I can even add a song I have never heard before to a playlist and it will play from there but not from anywhere else.

So far I have deleted all of my local spotify files and reinstalled the app and I am still experiencing the same problem so any help would be appreciated.

Does the dev team actually **bleep**? This issue has been going on for more than a year! Absolutely incredible. This should have been fixed in a week.
