Issues with the Web player's volume slider

We're receiving reports that the Volume slider/control from the Web Player isn't functioning correctly. For some users, sliding the volume up automatically adjusts the volume lower instead, and vice-versa.

Reloading the Web Player page sets the volume to almost 0 or mute as well.

Hey everyone,

I just started having this problem today (scrolling over the volume bar results in the same behaviour as OP's video, clicking it works) in Spotify Web Player and I have no idea what has caused it. I've never experienced this before; before today the slider worked fine when scrolled over..

I have the same isue.
When I try to use the scrollwheel, it goes to the minimum, and the only way to set the volume is by draging.
I tried everithing above and when I reload the web or close and re-open the desktop app, it goes to the minimum.

In the video below, I first use the scrollwheel, then I drag it and at the end I click it.

Hello,

it's been a week or so that the sound resets to 0% when refreshing the page. Plus, it's hard to get the sound back correctly: when i try to click on let's say about 80%, it puts itself at 50% or even less, I have to click 2 or 3 times to get it where I want, it's really annoying 😞

My Question or Issue

The volume slider on the web player behaves inconsistently and seems to favour certain volume levels.

When adjusting volume via the web version on Mac, it stays where set if it’s at 100% or 0%. However, if set anywhere in between, the slider may decrease automatically. Upon refreshing the page, the volume often jumps to 100% or 0%, rather than staying at the previously set level.

When playing on the web player and adjusting the volume using the Spotify mobile app, the volume seems to work properly (it stays at the set value). But again, if you refresh the page or adjust it via the web slider, it jumps back to its “preferred” value (currently 100% — it used to settle around 40% during earlier tests).

This has been tested on both Opera GX (sidebar and main browser) and Chrome (with almost default settings), with identical results.

See the video for a clearer demonstration.

I have no clue how to explain exactly what is happening so I made a short video to show the problem. But basically as the title says.

My Question or Issue

Audio volume keeps going lower when I try to change the volume or when I mute/unmite it.

Hey
Issue still present in April 2025 version of Spotify web player.
Can confirm that grabbing volume slider handle (dot) and moving it left and right helped a bit with glitching slider value for using both cursor and mouse wheel. Still slider UI is updating very slowly so it's certainly being set by some web requests instead of doing it on local scripts.
For testers I would recommend lowering internet speed or adding artificial lag. For devs I would recommend trying to use some local script controlling volume and from there send / receive volume update requests.
