Latest software upgrade for older Bose SoundTouch systems breaks Spotify Connect

If you have a Bose SoundTouch system that supports AirPlay (this was the older version, before Bose ditched AirPlay and released a new model that only supports Bluetooth), be very cautious before upgrading to the latest software update from Bose and it will break Spotify Connect. Since upgrading I can no loner use Spotify Connect and Bose have no solution. The Bose device no longer appears as an available device within the spotify app (iPhone, Windows). There is no way to revert an older firmware version on the Bose.  The only option is to play the music via AirPlay which is OK but it tends to drain your device battery very quickly.

I've contacted Bose about this issue as it's obviously a software glitch after doing various checks with my network etc.

Update: 18/08/17: Bose UK Technical support has confirmed today that this is a software bug and it will be fixed in a release due out September 2017.
