Let me get this straight . . .

I am a trial Premium subscriber evaluating the value of a Spotify subscription.

I can import my iTunes playlists into Spotify so I can conveniently play them from my Spotify app along with other music available through my Spotify subscription; however . . .

(a) not all songs import. Some are grayed out, so I have to download each playlist.  Doesn't that take up extra space on my iPhone or iPad?  Some songs still won't download.  Why not?  A redundant download may be okay if I have the space because I frequently want to listen in wifi-free zones, like an airplane.  However,

(b)  why is it exactly that I can't send my iTunes playlist music in Spotify to my Chromecast Audio devices?  It says, "Can't play this right now," which apparently means "Can't play iTunes playlist songs, whether downloaded or not, on your Chromecast devices, ever."  I can send Spotify library streaming songs or downloaded songs to my Chromecast devices.  I can create a Spotify playlist that is exactly like an iTunes imported playlist and send that to Chromecast devices.  What in the world is the difference?  What is the value of importing iTunes (or Windows Media, or any other local music, for that matter) if I have to recreate the playlist in Spotify to listen to a group of songs that I already have organized?

Hey @OrionTX! Welcome to the Community.

Spotify supports .mp3, .mp4, and .m4p files. If QuickTime is installed on your computer then .m4a files are also supported. We’ll do our best to match any unsupported local files with songs from the Spotify catalog. If they're not in our catalog, you'll have to use your Spotify app to play music files stored on your computer.

Keep in mind that with Chromecast, you can listen music from our catalog but you can't play local files on this device.

Let us know if you have more doubts 🙂

Okay.  I get it.  I can't cast my own music to Chromecast Audio if Spotify does not have a match for my music in its library.

The real issue, which you do not directly state, is that I can't upload my non-matched music to Spotify's cloud, like users can with your competitors.  Apple iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon Music all have so-called "music lockers" that Spotify does not.

This issue, along with the fact that I can't see the music queue directly in the Spotify iPad app (Spotify suggests an iPhone workaround, but that misses the point), are deal killers for me.  I will be cancelling my trial subscription.

Too bad.  I thought Spotify had potential. I would be a fan and a subscriber if you had these two features.
