Thread: 393602409632

Status: Resolved again

Having worked previously, installing and using Spotify-0.8.5.dmg seems to result in a crash, rendering the app unusable

Thank you, thank you martgera, jisss and mvelinder...  who are you people? Smart Narnians?

I have just downloaded 6.3.37 from here:

and have the text files in my application support as directed by mvelinderhere (I've effectively subbed 6.3.37 for 0.8.5 in these instructions):

I am listening to Spotify as I type but have not yet logged out and tried to log in again, you may hear the yowls of disappointment from where you are sitting if it all falls apart at that point, but this is progress for me since this morning.

I've been having the same problems as the rest of us Mac OSX 10.5 people. My spotify crashed yesterday afternoon and, well, we all know the rest of the story.

However I just downloaded 6.3.37 and its been working so far, nice to get the music back although I miss 8.5 quite a bit. Thank you nicnic for posting the download link! Veru much appreciated 🙂

This is getting me by but come on Spotify, lets fix this mess.

I installed and now I can listen to songs. Strange why Spotify team has not replied anything about this case today.

HI! I am having the exact same issue:

After attempting to upgrade, my problems with Spotify has persisted. If I quit Spotify, it refused to reopen unless I reinstall the program. Now, I can't even get the program to open. Its disgraceful! I reinstall everything... probably ten or more times (different versions, using the textEdit cheat, etc) and NOTHING.

A more detailed description, using numbered steps

1. Uninstalled the program. Everything "Spotify"

2. Then I reinstalled the version 8.4 (this didn't work)

3. I uninstalled everything AGAIN

4. Then restared my computer

5. Then, according to a forum, created 2 textEdit files that disabled updates

6. Tried reinstalling again
7. Nothing
8. Considered throwing my computer out the window
9. Uninstalled everything
10. Restarted my computer again (Third time's the charm...?)
11. Reinstall

What I expected to happen

To open? And play music?

What actually happened

If it DOES open (which hasn't happened in 2 days), the music stutters and buffers

My Operating System

MAC OS x 10.5.8

My Spotify version

Do you have any screenshots you can attach to more clearly explain your issue?

I don't think so. And when I fought with tech support, they essentially told me there was nothing they can do and then ignored my following emails.

AWESOME! right?

Thank you 🙂

I don't actually work for Spotify either, just feeling the pain of not being able to listen to your music!

thats what im talkin bout ! haha!

they should hire people like you to manage this community

and they should just fix this bug cause all of our playlists are in there :[

Weird. Same problem. I guess Spotify WANTS me to look at switching to Google Play streaming? I happened to notice their minimum system requirements:

  • Platform: Mac OS X 10.3 or higher with latest updates installed
  • Processor: 1.83MHz Intel Core Duo or faster
  • RAM: 128MB or more
  • Video Card: at least 64MB of video memory
  • Sound Card: at least 16-bit

Get a clue Spotify, our I'm Audi 5000.
