[Mac] Spotify not working after updating to macOS Catalina

My Question or Issue

I just finished installing Mac OS Catalina, and each time I try to open Spotify, the icon jumps like normal as if it’s about to open, and then it just doesn’t open. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify several times as well as clearing the cache, but the problem still persists. Is there any way to fix it?

I reinstalled Spotify with appcleaner and restarted my laptop. Works perfectly now.

Can you please tell me the steps you followed? Also, can you also please test for Google Chrome? I am facing this issue for Spotify and Chrome in my Mac.

My issue was with chrome so this should work for you too.

If you don't want to do the steps in the link to reinstall, download appcleaner

From here:

Then just restart.

Mac mini late 2012 with os Catalina. After upgrading to Catalina the Spotify desktop app (version 1.1.16.522.g55a4b852} for 24 hrs and then it stopped working.
I’ve removed and reinstalled the app several times without result.
The app tries to starts but closes in one second.
I reinstalled. Catalina. Clean install. At thirst it looked like Spotify desktop app was working but after an hour +_ it stoped again...
Yesterday evening, all of a suddent, it worked great again 12 hr straight.
Today it worked for +- 1 hrs then it stopt.
Removed it with app cleaner,no result.
Safe mode, no result.
Different system user, no result.
No anti virus insalled.
Other programs work fine (chrome as wel).
different internet connection, no result.

Same Issue

Mac Pro Late 2013, Catalina 10.15

 

I have a workround to get the app running if it helps

1: Right Click Spotify in applications folder, click show package contents

2: Double Click contents

3: Double Click Library

4:Double Click Loginitems

5:Double Click StartUpHelper, icon should appear on the bottom right, click it and spotify opens and runs ok.

Tried reinstalls etc, nothing worked except the long way round as above. hope it is fixed soon because its a long way round to open the app 🙂

@Muazzam Allmost thougt it did the trick...App started but reacted slow and crashed soon after... When i tried it another time it didnt start at all:-(

I've had a few crashes too but it has always restarted so far. It's a nightmare but better than not working at all

Hi,

 

I just updated to Catalina, and have reintalled Spotify after I was already having issues with it. It will not let me play unsaved songs while I am online or connected to wifi. I have checked to see if I am in offline mode, and cleared all the caches but it still wont work.
