[MacOS] Desktop app crashing, Home page not loading

We've received reports from Mac users that the desktop app crashes and the Home page refuses to load - an error message "Something went wrong" is displayed instead.

 

This is being investigated.

Mine is MacBook Pro 13 inch 2019 intel based, so it's not really Apple Silicon issue.

Does the web player work on the device the desktop app is experiencing this? Does a different account on the desktop app behave the same as above?

 

If you're using a VPN, turn it off.

 

What's the exact version of the desktop app you're running?

Also broken for me. Seems to be after updating to Sonoma. I've also followed the steps and the issue is still there. Please update the app, I don't like using the web player.


Edit: 

  • Your OS version. macOS Sonoma 14.0 (23A344)
  • The version of Spotify you're running. Spotify for macOS (Apple Silicon)
    1.2.21.1104.g42cf0a50
  • The troubleshooting you've tried so far. Everything mentioned here. Deleted all cached files, reinstalled, rebooted etc etc.

I experience the same problem after updating to macOS 14.0, but the web player is working.

I also have the same issue after the OS upgrade. Re-installation and general troubleshooting procedure doesn't help. 

The player and search are working; however, the Homepage doesn't appear. I tried multiple ISPs and Spotify accounts to test this. The web player is also operating normally as would.

From another account as well, VPN is turned off and it doesn't work with it either, there are no problems in the browser, only in the application.

It looks like some of api requests from app doesn't contain field `timeZone` in query `variables` object and backend sends back error

"Variable 'timeZone' has an invalid value: Variable 'timeZone' has coerced Null value for NonNull type 'String!'"
 
After I added such field in proxyman everything started to work. Hope it could help to address the issue.
