[MacOS] Desktop app crashing, Home page not loading

We've received reports from Mac users that the desktop app crashes and the Home page refuses to load - an error message "Something went wrong" is displayed instead.

This is being investigated.

Hey folks,

Thanks for your patience while our tech team looked into this issue.

We’re happy to announce that this should now be fixed for everyone! If you're still having trouble you can post a new thread in the relevant help board here.

Cheers!

Still having issues with Sonoma 14.0 and the app just showing a total black screen - reinstalled app loads of times and still nothing. Can play music through Safari web browser no issue - what do I do next - struggling to get support 😞 Thanks

I'm on Windows 10. App crashes at startup. Haven't been able to use Spotify desktop since the new UI.

It says it's been fixed but it still doesn't work for me. It hasn't  worked in over a month I believe.

It doesn't load at all – the homepage just looks black. No error message. I would post a picture but I "do not have permission".

The app is still not working MacBook Pro M1 2020 running Sonoma 14.1 - having to use the web browser all the while. Just tried the app again as you've posted that it has been fixed and I still get just a black screen once it opens and nothing else - come on Spotify - I don't pay all this money each month to use a web page to listen to music on my Mac while working. Come on!! Also, how about making your support system a little easier rather than having to use a message board! Thanks!

This problem still persists, at least on Mac OS Monterey 12.7.1, Spotify for macOS (Intel) 1.2.24.756.g7a7fc7f0 I can reproduce songs but the home and other (apparently random) albums do not load.

I have also the same issue!
Black screen in Safari browser after Log in...
The app itself shows "Something is wrong" all the time (but I can only play and see new added liked songs or playlists that I manage through a phone). Switching playing between devices does not work either.

I have tried to a full cleaning protocol and reinstall the app, even downgrade, but nothing helped...

Hi team, like many users in this thread, I have the same problem since yesterday.

The application stuck when it tries to load the content. You can't do anything when it does. See screenshot below.

Also after reinstalling the application several times the issue still occur.

I've tried to disable any VPN and my anti virus and that doesn't help either.

Running MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)

Running macOs Monterey 12.3.

Have this issue still on a M1 Mac. Sometimes it works again but most of the time the app doesn't load at all or extremely slowly.

The problem still persists. Home page and Search won't load. They just hang without an error message. I'm able to use playlists normally.

  • MacOS Monterey 12.7.1.
  • Spotify MacOS Intel 1.2.24.756.g7a7fc7f0
  • Rebooted the laptop and restarted Spotify. Haven't done other troubleshooting and nobody here has been successful in troubleshooting the problem.

I have found a fix for this. In Finder go to Library/Application Support/Spotify. Delete the "PersistantCache" Folder. Restart Spotify. It should work now 🙂
