Make the library more functional

I accidently closed out of the app while listening to music at work, and when re opened i was completly lost, the "my library" button had changed to a "me" button. and i also noticed that about 400 songs wer deleted from my songs list, new songs that wer saved to my library as a full album just gone, but it was also random others too. it didnt seem like there was a pattern to what songs wer deleted. So when clicking on this "me" button takes u to playlists and favorites. So i hit the "favorites" button, scroll down a little and see "songs" "albums" "artists" then "statioms". Ok, i cant listen to music like this, cause this new "songs" folder in the "favorites" section doesnt even have all my songs. And "artists" says i only have 3. So im confused as to how i had over a 1,000 songs but only 3 artists. But since this was apparently updated i only have around 700 songs. This new updated has caused so much problems in my spotify app i cant do anything the way i used to and its becoming more useless and more angering considering ive been getting charched twice a month for the last year and then this happens, very dissapointed in the downgrades that have been made, makes the app more time consuming to find wat ur looking for. you now literally have to push more buttons to do the same things as before. How is that and update? Updates fix things and make apps easier to use, not complicate and frustrate people to the max. I use this everyday and my library was the only way i used spotify. If i wanted to listen to one artist, i just type the artist name in the filter line when u scroll all the way up in my songs list. And it brings up all the songs u have saved by that artist. Or type in a individual song if i really need to hear that one song, if not i hit the shuffle play button and or no shuffle play and just listen to the songs as there arranged in alphabetical order or chronological order and thats about it. now i try to do that and alot of my songs are gone and now saving new music is a nightmare. I like to find an artist i like, download all there albums to my library and just delete the ones when i get to them that i dont like as i listen to my songs list in chrono order or alpha order(or skip them for that moment while busy at work), its so convenient that way cause i just use the buttons on my headphones and then dont have to pull my phone out. Really i just want the library button back and for it to work as it did before this useless "me" button set up. Somebody please help!

Hi @Kawirider8 and @djdon77! Thanks for writing on the Community.

This change is part of a test we're currently running in order to streamline your collection. You will now only see the artists you explicitly choose to follow instead of every artist whose music you’ve saved. A saved album will only be shown under the Albums section instead of all the tracks also appearing in the Songs section, and the individual songs you save will only be shown in the Songs section.

The team running this test are very interested in feedback, and we will pass all of your thoughts along to them. If you have other questions, just give us a shout.

Take care!

I couldn't have said it better myself!  I think Spotify is trying to be too "cute & clever" with it's service!

When I turned my PC on today and launched spotify, I discovered that not all the artists I have saved were displayed on the Artists page of the client. This is weird, because they display just fine under Albums, and on the web client they show up under Artists just fine, but on the android app it's the same issue as on the desktop client.

How do I make it display properly? I tried logging in and out again, I even tried reinstalling the client.

Hey @Triplecrow,

What version of Spotify are you running? There was an update released just recently so it might be wise the check if there are any files left in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Spotify before installing it again.

Triplecrow

I don't know what my old version of spotify was before the reinstall but the new one I installed today was 1.0.44.100.ga60c0ce1

I just uninstalled it again and there are no spotify files left in that path, not even a spotify folder remains.

thanks for the reply

Can you provide me with a screenshot so that I can escalate your issue?

Triplecrow

Sure. As you can see, the artist page doesn't display a lot of the albums I have saved.

Hi,

I have the same issue I think only started happening 2 days ago, all the songs, artists, and albums in My Music are seperated so if I add an album it wont show up in artists or songs

Triplecrow

Update: I restarted my PC today and now NOTHING shows up under Albums or Songs.

So I checked spotify on my laptop and the problem happens when Filter:saved albums only is checked, but I cant see the option to uncheck it on my PC where the problem is happening
