Massive battery drain

Since last update, even if Spotify is playing in the background, still it drains 30% of battery in one hour (ios 11.4.1). If spotify is on, phone is heating massively.

Reinstalled the app, updated ios from 11.4 to 11.4.1 and its still the same.

Please update asap, this is disgraceful since I pay premium.

Hey folks,

Thanks for your patience on this.

Could you try updating to version 8.4.99 on iOS and see if that fixes the issue for you?

If not, then let us know and we'll look into it further.

Thanks!

I swapped to an X and I haven’t seen it since.
I always keep the apps updated, so I have the lates.

On another note: when will we get an Apple Watch app that works without the phone?

Have been having battery issues as well. Mostly happens when i listen through the iPhone speakers from what i can see. There are usually quick jumps, where the battery suddenly drains for like 10% within 1 minute. I have an iPhone 6 and have the lattest iOS and app version. Disabled bacground app refresh, but still the same issue. The Spotify app uses 50% of the battery pretty much all the time. I miss the good old days of MP3 players where the battery lasts 20+ hours, ha!

I have the same issue using an iPhone XS, the app drains my battery and it makes me mad I have to stop listening to music to charge my phone every hour or so

Yeah actually it has been back for a few months. Phone still getting  hot as **bleep**. The problem only arrises when not connected to WiFi . The Fix only worked for like one update.... till this day nothing has changed.

My currend work around. Battery saving mode and force closing the app when done listening! That stops the drain.

How is this problem marked as “fixed”?

I have the newest upgrades of both iOS and Spotify. I have restarted my phone. I have deleted the app and downloaded it again. I do not have background updates on.

Yet the app drains my battery like crazy. It’s at 59% battery usage, and just about 2% is me ACTUALLY using the app. My battery capacity is at 100%, my phone is just a couple of months old.

This is really infuriating, I’d like to use a service I pay monthly for on my phone as well without it ruining my battery time. It’s worked fine until like a week ago when I noticed my phone’s battery draining without me even using it.

Same here
The problem is certainly not "fixed"
Having 20% battery usage after 6hours without even touching the app
Android 9, Samsung Galaxy S10e, latest app version

UPD
After a small investigations it seems to be related to connecting spotify app on my smartwatch (Galaxy Watch)

Batteryissues

I am having the same issue in 2021
