[Mobile] Hitting Like or Dislike on the notification bar doesn't work

My Question or Issue

The heart icon in the notification drawer no longer works.

It doesn't add the song to my library, nor it likes the song.

Please help

 

Update: 

Spotify version: 8.5.36.747

Android 10

Issue still persists

The heart icon in the notification tray does not work

Also as many have pointed out, it does not work in Discover Weekly playlist and some others. 

 

 

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

1) Play Discover Weekly Playlist

2) Minimize app /Put it in background (Optional)

3) Open Notification Panel (like the image below)

4) Click on heart icon (it will not work)

 

The like button still does not works as of Jan 16 2020

 

Update 2: 

Spotify version: 8.5.46.859

Android 10

Galaxy Note 10+

 

The issue is still present and the steps to reproduce the issue remain the same 

Hope to see a resolution soon from the Spotify team. 

 

Note: Please use Discover Weekly playlist to reproduce the issue as it has never worked on that playlist. Thank you

 

 

Final Update: 

The issue seems to have been resolved for many including me but there are some people who are still facing the issue.

I'll keep the idea open until we receive an official word from Spotify.

 

The App version that solved the issue for me 

8.5.49.973

Also make sure you clear cache, force stop app and restart.

Keep in mind that a clean reinstallation of the app can usually help solve a number of issues (like the ones mentioned in this thread). Check out this guide on how to do a thorough reinstallation.

If that doesn't solve it, it'd be helpful if you could tell us the version of your app as well as some details on your device so we can take a closer look.

If you've followed the instructions and the issue persists, could you check if Spotify is set as an exception for any cache clearing and battery optimization apps on your device?

If that doesn't solve it, it'd be helpful if you could tell us the version of your app as well as some details on your device so we can take a closer look.

Can you tell us if Spotify is set as an exception for any cache clearing and battery optimization apps on your device?

 

If the issue persists please tell us the version of your app and give us some more info about your device.

Could you give us a bit more info? Such as:

1. Can you dislike songs or is it also not possible? 

2. Have you tried doing a clean reinstall

3. Do you use power-saving apps? If so, are they enabled for Spotify?

I'm also having this issue. I tried a clean reinstall and it persists. It was working before and only started after the last large Spotify update (where you changed how songs are liked and a bunch of other things).

 

I did some testing and realized the like/dislike notification buttons don't work only on the discover weekly & release radar playlists. 

 

The buttons work if I'm listening to someone else's playlist, radio, or the daily mixes.

 

I have spotify version 8.5.23.686. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy s9 running Android version 9, security update of April 2019, and Samsung One UI version 1.0. Let me know if you need to know anything else.

 

I checked my husband's phone and it has the same problem. He has an LG v30 with Android 8.0.0 and security update 3/1/19.

That's great info  Ravenfire08! I've checked and it's the same for me - only the Discover and New releases playlists exhibit the problem. Works fine for other music.

Now we know for sure the problem is within the app... (I was thinking maybe it's something to do with the phone)

Can confirm, the buttons work on the Daily Mixes for example.

I tried that and it still doesn't work. Both the like and dislike buttons in Release Radar and Discovery Weekly playlists don't work in the notification.
