My Question or Issue

With the new playlist sorting and filtering options I lost the ability to have my play order descend from the top while using the "Recently Added ^ (newest at the top/oldest at bottom of playlist)" sorting option.

I want to open my playlist and see the newly added songs at the top, and when I play one for it to play the next song downwards.

However now when I do that it wants to play going upwards, so if I choose the 4th song from the top instead of it going to the 5th song from the top, it moves into the 3rd.

Me no likey.

If there's an option to choose play order, I'm not seeing it. If there's not an option for that, can we please get one. Thanks!

Hey folks,

Thank you for your precious patience and collaboration 🙂

Happy to confirm this should now be fixed if you:

  1. Restart the app by force closing it on your phone
  2. Log out of your account and back in again

Little reminder to try the above steps a couple of times if things don't change after only one attempt.

Cheers!

This is what I most dislike from the update, this was such an useful feature that's gotten removed completely.

Hi,
After trying a clean reinstall, I'm having the same issue ‌:(

Some additional information in case it helps:

- Device:  Xiaomi Mi Note 10
- Operating System: Android 11 RKQ1.200826.002
- Spotify version: 8.6.24.918
- It happens with any playlist ordered by "Recently Added".
- There are no complete albums added to these playlists.

- Here you can check the issue in this video (sorry my app is in spanish):

Hi, same here,

The ascendant and descendant filtering for "Recently Added" are swapped, when filtering by "Recently Added" songs are played in reversed order as they should/are usually played, every other filters works properly.

This seems to only affect personal playlists, filtering on other playlists by "Recently Added" works just fine.

This is also linked to the new library UI, I tried to reinstall a previous version of the app and it worked very fine as it used to, until the app auto-update to the latest version with the new UI and makes every playlist bugged again.

(I tried many other things reboots, cache, local files and downloads related but had no effect on the current behaviour, tried on iOS and seems like everything work fine on iPhone X)

  • Does it happen with any playlist (if it's only a specific playlist, please share the URI)? All Playlists
  • Do you have complete albums added to the playlists this is happening on? Sometimes it's the case, sometimes it's not, it doesn't really affect the bug.
  • a video of the steps to reproduce the issue: Sorry, I don't really have a way to record it, though it is pretty self explanatory, the playlist always follows the same order no matter how it is sorted.

I've had the same issue since at least Sunday:

  • Samsung Galaxy S8 + Android version 9
  • Spotify version 8.6.24.918
  • This issue happens to all my playlists, even those I've added to my library that someone else made.
  • None of my playlists have complete albums in them, but many contain multiple songs from the same album

Whenever I try to play my playlists with Recently Added  (Most recently added songs added at the top) it will play the songs bottom to top, instead of top to bottom that it did before. This also means that whenever you start with the first song on the playlist the playlist stops after that song and it starts at the bottom again, making the entire sorting by Recently Added ↑ useless.

Funnily enough, sorting any of the other choices (Artist ↑ , Title ↑, Album ↑) won't produce this problem, and the playlist will play top to bottom.

It also only occurs on Spotify Mobile, the PC version is unaffected by this.

I have done a clean reinstall of the app as instructed, but the problem is still there.

I would like to apologize in advance for any translation errors, since my Spotify is in Swedish.

Same issue here:

Samsung Galaxy A50 (Android version 11, One UI version 3.1)

Spotify version 8.6.24.918

This issue happens to all playlists.

None of my playlists have complete albums in them.

It only occurs on Spotify mobile app, desktop version is unaffected.

Tried a clean reinstall but the problem persists.

Whenever I try to play my playlists with most recently added songs added at the top it will play the songs bottom to top, instead of top to bottom that it did before. Meaning whenever I start with the first song on the playlist the playlist stops after that song and it starts at the bottom again.

Same exact issue, only started today and only on my phone ( I listened to music on my laptop and the issue want pressent) it seems either way you choose to sort by date it wants to queue upwards. So if I choose the 3rd most recent or oldest song in a play list the next that will play is the second most recent or oldest.  And if I choose the first song wanting to go from my most recent down it will just queue the first song as if that's the end of the playlist. It's across all my playlist n not just one. I took a video to show everything hope it helps, I think it's just a glitch because it's not an issue on my pc but yeh, and playlists not sorted by recent are fine and queue downwards like normal. Yes I did a clean reinstall too btw didn't do anything. Please fix this 😞

Info you said to supply:

Model: Samsung Galaxy s20 5g

OS: Android version 11

Spotify version 8.6.24.918

Glitch is on all playlists when I search by recent

It's just doing it to all my playlists(yeh I have albums in the playlists if that's what's being asked?)

I'm having this issue as of this morning 5/10/21. Recently updated prior had no issues with the "new Playlist ui" (nothing changed) until today around 10am or so. It's 11am now.

Description is:

When sorting RECENT to OLDEST the plalist shows as OLDEST to RECENT but when tapping first song, then going to next song, it then stops and resets to what would be the bottom of the list.. from there, I can play RECENT to OLDEST but cannot see in the playlist as this view. This issue happens vise versa. The sorting works okay except in the playlist view it shows the songs in the wrong order then playing them it moves through them in the reverse direction it should be IE bottom to top when selecting next track. This has become very inconvenient. Disappointed this has decided to randomly happen when this morning my app was working as it should.

I have tried to log out, clear cache, and reinstall app. Restarted device to no avail. Eagerly awaiting news on a fix.
