[Mobile] Playlists disappear from Your Library after being downloaded

We've had some reports that playlists are disappearing from Your Library after being downloaded for Offline listening on mobile devices.

The right teams are aware and looking into this.

Hey folks,

We really appreciate all your reports and patience thus far!

We've done some magic backstage and this should be fixed in the latest version of the app.

If you're having troubles, first make sure that the app is rocking the latest version available.

If that doesn't do the trick, don't hesitate to let us know by starting a new thread in the related Help Board. We'll be happy to lend a hand.

Cheers!

Hey @sytzeschalk,

Thanks for the reply and the video.

We tried recreating this on our end, but couldn't get the same result, so it must be an account or device related thing.

Could you try the following:

  • Make a new folder and try downloading playlists within - do you get the same result?
  • Ask a friend/ family member to log in with their acc on your device and see if the same thing happens.

Keep us posted on how you get on.

Alex

Hey @wrzlbrmpf1,

Thanks for the reply.

Could you confirm to us that playlists are disappearing from folders only after you've clicked the Download button on them? And, can you still search for them in the search bar, even though they don't appear in the folder.

Also send us the following info:

  • Device make, model and OS version
  • Exact Spotify version as of today

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Hi,

Yes, the playlists are only displayed in my folders if I dont download them, if i download a playlist it cant be found in the folder anymore. If i move the playlist out of the folder (by using the desktop app) I see it on the mobile app again, as soon as i move the downloaded playlist back in the folder its not displayed anymore. If i remove the download, the playlist gets displayed again. Searching for the playlists in the search bar works, thanks for this hint.

Device: Honor 10, Model COL-L29, EMUI and Android Version 10.0.0

Spotify Version: 8.6.30.889

Hi Alex,

First off, thank you for the efforts on your side! I've followed both of your suggestions. The same behaviour also happens whenever I create a new folder + playlists, so I guess it's not limited to existing folders and playlists.

I also let my gf log in with her account on my device and on her account the playlists kept disappearing as well, so I gather the problem is not linked to my own account.

Hope this helps!

Alex

Hey folks,

Thanks for the info provided.

We'd like to investigate this further. For anybody who hasn't provided the following info, please do:

  • Device make, model and OS version
  • Exact Spotify version
  • Is this happening when another account is logged in on your device

Cheers.

My Question or Issue

Issues with the latest Spotify update on android (as of May 21):

I see there is a lot of complaining about this on, but I haven't seen many reports on the problem I'm having:

Not all playlists are showing.

One is supposed to be able to show only downloaded playlists. If you have downloaded playlists in folders, it is the folders that are displayed. This can be an OK way if only the downloaded playlists were shown inside the folders. However, this is not the case. Many playlists are shown inside the folders, not only downloaded. But the real problem, and what makes this new app version useless, is that not all downloaded playlists are displayed.

The new app version hides some of my most used playlists. They are simply not available.

This must be checked and fixed.

My Question or Issue

Hi! I can't see my downloaded playlists in my lists of playlists. Please see the attached screenshots; in the first it shows that I should have 22 Rock playlists; but in the second, I only have 17 (the ones that are missing are the ones I downloaded); in the third, you can see that I only have downloaded playlists in the Rock folder (but you can see in the second screenshot that none of the 17 playlists are downloaded, because the 5 I've downloaded are missing). (Btw, everything appears fine in the web app on my Windows 10 laptop.) What should I do to see these playlists?

Same here since latest Update...unbelievable that every update delivers one easter egg after the other...reinstalled app approx 10 times during last three weeks, please please please STOP using us as betatesters...im paying in order to be able to listen to my music and not for "pls test x, pls test y and then test z..."

Ok so now this is happening. I have playlists selected. Any playlists I have downloaded within folders are completely gone. Playlists I've spent lots of time curating. It's only the downloaded playlists. Doesn't matter whether I have the download view button selected or not. Spotify you have really really ****ed up this app. I've been premium for nearly a decade and now it's nearly useless. PLEASE REVERT THIS NEW PLAYLIST FUNCTIONALITY.
