[Mobile] Recently Played not updating

We're receiving reports from users that Recently Played is not updating. This might also include Recently Played Artists.

Hi, I'm recently experiencing where recently played tracks and artists are not being recorded. My listens for the past fewdays (from 12/12 to 12/17) seem to miss... Who can I contact to fix this please ?

I am having this problem since late December 2022. Frustrating 2-hour chat with Spotify support last night yielded no solution (side note: the web based messaging app is terrible). Support said the only option was to give me a new account, BUT if I did that my listening history (and hence my recommendations) would be lost… I didn’t love that idea so I asked them to send it on to the Escalations team. I also asked if I could keep my current account active while trying out the new account - but surprisingly they said they couldn’t do that (was shocked by this - I doubt this is impossible, I suspect the agent was just not allowed to give me a free 2nd account even if it was temporary)… Anyway waiting to see what happens but not optimistic based on this thread status.

This only thing that works for me (and I’ve had to do it multiple times over the past couple of years) is to delete the app from both my phone and my laptop, then delete any previous download of the app stored anywhere on the laptop (including zip files) before rebooting both laptop and phone and finally downloading a new app to both places. That’s worked every time for me.

Just pay attention to what your system names the file when you download the app again to your laptop. If there’s a number after the file name, it means you didn’t get them all off.

Thanks Gina52561 -- but something else fixed it for me!

 

Two members of the Escalations team reached out this morning and suggested different solutions: (#1) Enable Facebook data and Tailor ads in Privacy Settings and (#2) Sign out everywhere. I did #1 right away, and as I was about to do #2, I noticed that I had granted account access to various apps/devices including Google, Alexa, Savant, Peloton, and old Spotify Wrapped from 2017/2018. So I (#2a) revoked access from all of these things except Peloton and then (#2b) signed out everywhere. A few hours later, I played a playlist on iOS app and it was successfully added to my Recently Played. I just played an album on web app and that worked too.

 

The downside of doing 3 things at once is that I'm not sure which one fixed it! But anyway that's what worked for me, so if others have the same problem you might try some combination of those things.

My recently played artists stopped updating today. It was working just a few minutes ago, but now it doesn't.

Description:

On every of this machines my history of listened tracks is different. While I have my computer with windows or macos turned then everything seems to work fine, but they don't upload it to the "cloud" and then on my mobile device there are only tracks i played on mobile device. What's strange it kinda works when I play songs through air play but that's probably because it's going through my phone first amd then to other devices.

Troubleshooting:

I tried different apps for raspberry pi, removed access to every third party app for my account, reinstalled app on every device.

 

Dear spotify, please fix this bug, I really like to be able to see my history of music.

Tengo un problema también y es que hace 2 semanas que la app me dejó de cargar los minutos !!! Me aparecen las canciones que escucho pero cuando voy a ver cuántas veces las escuché o sus minutos simplemente no me suben y lo mismo con los artistas mis números se congelaron y **bleep** eso !! Necesito tener una idea de como voy con mis stream y las otras app no sirven tan bien como está, espero lo arreglen pronto pq no me gustaría tener que desinstalarla
