My Question or Issue

I'm trying to share music through messenger. It says it was sent, but nothing goes in the chat. I have to copy the url and paste it in the textbox.

I can see posts like this going back to 2016 and no fixes offered seem to work. 

When a friend shares a Spotify song to me directly from the Share function in Spotify, it comes through as a small thumbnail with a play arrow. The play arrow only plays a short snip of the song so I have to manually search in Spotify to hear the full thing. 

Clicking the link arrow above the song title opens up a new Messenger chat to Spotify I think. 

I'm pretty sure it has worked once or twice in the last few years but can't think of any changes I made to fix it. 

Recently I've done a clean uninstall/install and a full uninstall/install (cache, memory, uninstall, power off, install) with no change. 

I've added all available permissions in Apps-Settings and the links handled by Spotify look ok but I can't find a definitive list.

Welcome to the Community!

You mentioned that you've already reinstalled the app, but would you mind going through the steps of a clean reinstall, as it's more thorough than a normal one?

Additionally, could you check if it happens over both WiFi and 3/4G, or only on one connection type?

If these steps don't do the trick, can you send us a screenshot of what you're seeing from your end? Make sure to mask any personal information.

I have this problem as well. Can't share music in messenger. When you try to share it's not visible in messenger, like you've never sent anything at all.

The weirdest part is that it was fine for a time and now we're back to can't send anything. 

The issue shows no difference between wifi/4g/5g BTW. 

Love to hear a solution, meanwhile I'm sharing via texts.

From one day to another it just stopped working. It looks normal in Messenger, it says"sent" but then nothing is actually sent.

Same problem here. When I try to share songs, playlists, etc., through messenger it shows it was sent but it doesn't appear in the chat with persons it was sent for. 

It is annoying. I hope that someone will find the solution quickly.

I have the same issue on both of my phone's, OnePlus 6 and realme 7 pro.

Share link works to copy paste in to messenger as a temporary workaround.
