My Question or Issue

I am a premium user and I have been for a long time. Recently i've been having some issues with downloading music/podcasts to listen to offline. It isn't letting me.  At first it was saying that this was because I had a small amount of memory left on my phone so I freed up a lot of space and that didn't seem to make a difference (more on this later).

After unistalling and reinstalling, when I now go to download something I get the message 'You discovered a Premium feature! Get Spotify Premium now'. When I click on this it just takes me back to my home page. Spotify premium is working fine for me besides this, and is working fine on my pc and ps4. Help would be greatly appreciated as my work is incredibly boring without something to listen to.

Also despite clearing the cache through spotify there is still 7.5 Gb of spotify stuff on my sd card which I don't know how to remove. I've tried deleting the folder through the file browser ni my phone but this doesn't work.

Hey folks,

Thanks for your patience while we looked into this issue.

The issue should be fixed with the latest version of the app! Make sure to reinstall/update the app for the changes to take effect.

If you're still experiencing this issue, make sure to create a new thread in the help boards and we'll jump in there.

Thanks! Stay awesome 🙂

Country: UK Version: 8.5.6.673 Device: Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017), Android 8.0.0 I'm getting this, same as everybody else these last few week. I know that if I use my internal storage I can download, but after countless reinstalls, loggings in and out, refreshing, looking for other user accounts (nope!) and then checking the memory card on my laptop (which works and shows no problems), I still can't get spotify to download to the external SD card. I know that at the same time other (not all) apps were having problems saving to SD (the camera app) but that's working now and it's literally just Spotify not able to save to SD and gives me the "You've discovered a Premium Feature!".

I have the same issue.

Whenever I try to download songs and set the storage to save on the external sd card, it won't let me download and shows the "You've Discovered Premium" notification.

Hey guys, I had the same problem "You discovered Premium feature, Get Premium" all my downloaded playlists disappeared.

Since the issue is not resolved and my playlists already deleted, I re-installed Spotify on my Samsung s10 and logged in again.

The download feature appears to be working as normal after re-installing the app.

I downloaded my playlists again. I cannot say that issue is solved, because only re-installed it today, I hope my playlist will no be deleted again.

For everyone who already lost their playlists I recommend to try re-installing the application and hope that same issue will not appear again.

I feel like this is an issue that needs a patch fix or update to be resolved. Shouldn't have to go back to older versions to work properly.

I have the same problem, when I switch the "download" button on mobile this popup appears and the DL arrow stay grey, sync is still waiting with no queue in notification as usual... Sometimes when I reinstall the app after emptying the cache it eventually works for a short time where it only donwload "online" songs (that are on the Spotify network), however it stops after a little amount of time. With "offline" songs (usually downloaded from the computer) it doesn't work at all, even if I'm on the same wi-fi network. I tried to reinstall the app on PC and mobile several times, tried to connect with different networks, tried to move files from SD to device, tried to delete data, reconnect,... At this point I think I'm going to give voodoo a chance 🙂 Well I'm reassured to see that I'm not the only one with this problem, but it seems like it's known for a long time from now... It have to be fixed soon, because it's an important part of the premium experience.

Thank you !

[EDIT]

I finally download an old .apk and downgraded the actual version, at least it works fine.

someone mentioned their SD Card, this stopped happening to me, when I stopped trying to keep the downloads on my SD Card. I just had to suck it up and keep the files on my phone instead of my SD card

Exact same situation for me. Samsung Galaxy S10, Android 9, Spotify 8.5.7.999

I was receiving this same error, very frustrating.

Uninstalling and then installing the app again appears to have resolved the issue for me.

Unfortunately, this will mean you will need to re-save all your offline music so I recommend you do this as a last resort and on a WIFI connection.
