My Question or Issue

Hello friends, I am a Premium user on Andriod Phone device. All is peachy and I enjoy the app, although lately there is a spot of trouble. On my Home Spotify screen, there is a very nice feature, called More Like, which shows bands similar to one I've listened. it used to change often enough, giving more directions for discovering new music. Now it is stuck for a couple of weeks on the likes of the same band. Do you know how to get the feature to let go of it?

Many thanks

Beano

Hey there folks,

Thanks for all your reports so far!

We've let our tech team know, and they're investigating this. We wanted to let you know while we don't have an exact timeline for a fix for this issue, we'd recommend keeping an eye out for updates to the app.

So here is the weird thing, it appears to be platform specific. All my iOS devices show the same stuck "more like ...." howerver, my macOS devices show something else.

Removed Spotify from both iPad and iPhone, but unfortunately no luck either. I don't know where settings are stored/cached, but hopefully this helps in finding the bug.

It can't be a specific iOS error because it also happens on Android and Windows 10 (desktop) = same account, different "more like" suggestions.

Can't Spotify - who happily take my money each month (I happily pay it) just fix the issue with the amount of software guys they employ?

Status changed to: Under investigation

Hey there folks,

Thanks for your reports regarding the "More Like..." recommendations not updating.

We've passed this on to our tech teams and they're looking into it. If you're experiencing this issue, we'd recommend trying the following first:

  • Restarted your device
  • Tried a quick reinstall of the app (including removing any offline devices listed here before reinstalling).
  • Tried a different different connection
  • Tried a different device

If the issue persists after that, make sure to click +VOTE so you can stay updated.

It'd be also helpful if you could let us know the following in a comment, if you haven't already:

  • Device and its OS version
  • Spotify version

We'll let you know as soon as we've got any updates!

I have had this exact problem for many weeks. I came across a playlist which matched my tastes very well. I listened to it, duplicated it and changed things slightly to further enhance it.

It appeared as ‘More LIke ....’ section and has stayed there since. It appears on iPhone XS, iPhone 7, iPad 12 Pro and Apple Mac.

I have attempted reinstall on each of these and searched for other terms. All to no avail.

Perhaps Spotify is working correctly. Maybe this playlist is the one that optimally matches my tastes. However I enjoy a wide variety of music and would appreciate some rotation of the suggestions. More recently I have been looking for an option to remove it from the Home screen.

Also have this problem on iphone ios v 12.1.4 spotify v. 8.4.93.796.

It's been stuck since early December.

Wasted hours with customer service where I did all of the things suggested, uninstall/reinstall, check for updates, delete cache, etc. only to have these souls who apparently are unable or unwilling to deviate from whatever customer service script they're given say "well this will update as you listen"...

How is it this difficult to get this issue resolved, particularly when it's been an issue according to the forums since 2017?

As of today 22-Feb-2019, I am having the same issue on three separate systems running Spotify:

1. iMac (running the desktop Spotify client)

2. MacBook Pro (running the desktop Spotify client)

3. iPhone XS (utilizing the Spotify Application)

In all three cases, the "Top Recommendations for You" has been stuck with the same artists for weeks and is no longer updating.  On the iMac, I deleted and re-installed the desktop client, and cleared all the caches, to no avail.  On the iPhone I have deleted and re-istalled the app, and the same problem exists.

I have been paying for Spotify premium for a couple of years, so I'd like to get this resolved as I truly love that feature.

Thank You.

Just started having this issue in the last two weeks on the web player via my desktop computer with Windows 7.
