Music stops playing after 10 minutes when headphones are connected

  • Hello,

For some time now the Spotify app on my Samsung S10 has been stopping playing music after about 10 minutes every time I'm listening through headphones. It happens when I'm connected via Bluetooth headphones or wired headphones.

Weirdly, when I play music through the phone's speakers the problem does not occur.

I've tried reinstalling the app, changing the app's battery saving settings and made sure my phone doesn't put the app into the sleep mode. None of the above resolved the issue.

Please help.

Same here, new phone, clean Spotify install, drops bluetooth connection after exactly 10 minutes in my car. Yet it is the only app to do this.
Looks like their is no solution either, off to Amazon I think.

I found a solution on the Reddit: "go into the app switcher, click on Spotify, press lock app. fixes all those problems"

My Question or Issue

Why do I have to login to wifi to stop spotify stopping after 10min. I lock the screen and I'm using headphones. It stops, it does not crash. In offline mode it should last 29 days b4 I should need to login. Three different phones. Three different spotify's. Any ideas.

Hey @Stuwelch4,

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

Since it could be a temporary error, would you mind trying each of the following steps with any of (or all) your devices?

We'll look out for your reply and be available to help with anything else as well!

It's really bad at using Spotify Premium. Every 4 songs the app stops playing. It is necessary to press play again. Whether in the condition of use of the phone or bluetooth headset. I've tried everything. I reinstalled the app, the bluetooth devices, disconnected all devices from the account, redid everything. And the music continues to pause. Can someone help me?

I looked and attempted the several posts on this forum about sleep settings, power settings, resetting the phone, completely reinstalling the app then reset. I also tried signing out of everywhere. I also used a different android "widget" as described in these forums. That was the last fix that "worked" for quite a while. Now, its happening again and again. It doesn't matter if bluetooth is connected, it doesnt matter if the screen is on or off and it doesnt matter if spotify is in offline mode as well. No other music app I have does this. I have a few that I am using now without problems. I download music from the spotify app so I can listen to playlists as I ride around, usually off road.

It keeps happening!

Hi friend.
Here the problem is in any type of reproduction, whether online or offline.
And the most irritating thing is that the service is paid (it is not the free version) and Spotify does not have a service team for users.
This situation is really disappointing.
I am also looking for a solution, a fact that should be resolved by the app developer, but he prefers not to help us and suggest forums for users to try to fix this.
Zero stars for them

Yes, I also noticed a problem like this and I thought it was the energy saving of my phone but in fact it is something that has appeared recently when I think about it respect than when I use energy saving so it cannot be this.

Happens when wifi and mobile data off. Pauses 10min after screen lock.
Guess offline mode is not truely offline. Does Spotify still need to
connect?

I disabled the power saving mode. But nothing has changed.
I am very discouraged by all of this. It might be better to switch to
Deezer or Google Play Music.
What irritates me the most is Spotify does not comment.
