[New desktop app] Notifications not showing up on desktop app

My Question or Issue

I currently have "Show desktop notifications when the song changes" enabled in Settings on my Spotify Windows 10 app (ver 1.1.55.498.gf9a83c60-a). However, when songs change, no notification shows up. Is this a bug or is there something else that needs to be configured?

We can confirm that this feature is no longer available as it has been removed from the app, so we'll be closing this thread.

If you'd like to see this feature again, you can take a look at our Idea Exchange to see if someone else has already made a similar suggestion. If there isn't one, you can give these steps a go and submit your idea so that other users can also support it.

This is just a disgrace.

It took the Spotify team 3 months to respond, only to realize the feature is gone.

Why the **bleep** would you remove such a basic functionality for a media player without notice?
The fact the users even need to ask for it is absurd.

This does seem ridiculous; showing a notification when the song changes is such a basic bit of functionality that no-one in their right mind would think it's a good idea to remove it.

Also, can you please explain why there is a "Show desktop notifications when the song changes" setting if this feature has apparently been removed? Sorry, but I'm not buying it.

Yeah, agree, this is a basic function and should be there > @bnjns is correct, why have "Show desktop notifications when the song changes" in the settings panel if it's not an option.
@Novy please reopen this, needs to be resolved, ASAP.
